Re: [Group - Multilingual] LibriVox 13th Anniversary - tg

We’re getting a nice assortment of recordings for this project. It will be a few days before I have a chance to proof listen. Looking forward to doing that soon. :)

Re: Letters of a V.A.D.

Looks like an interesting book. Some chapters from this book might be good for the WWI Centenary Prose Collection Vol. III.

Re: PBS 100 Great Books

Mary, my father always wanted me to read THE YEARLING, but I never did. I don't think it was obstinacy on my part -- I simply knew I couldn't handle the deer dying at the end. Nan I understand what you mean about the deer dying, but that isn’t the end of the story. It’s a very big part of it, of co...

Re: PBS 100 Great Books

I was disappointed that “‘The Yearling” wasn’t on the list. I first saw the movie when I was too young to read the book, but it made a big impression on me...of course I sobbed and sobbed when Jody had to kill the deer. I read the book several years later and it’s always been a favorite of mine. I t...

Re: PBS 100 Great Books

I've read 43, but there are some on this list that I started and didn't want to finish or refuse to read. I don't consider this 100 great anything if it includes Twilight! I agree with you about some of the books. “Most popular” would be more appropriate in some cases rather than “Great”. Watching ...

PBS 100 Great Books

I was wondering if anyone has watched the programs or checked out PBS websites on the 100 Great Books? I find the list very interesting, with some titles that aren’t familiar to me. I have read some of the books and added others to my ever growing list of “books to read” :) Thanks to LibriVox, I’ve ...

Re: [Multilingual] WWI Centenary Prose Collection Vol. III-mas

Would “Five Inches” from the essays “Little Rays of Moonshine” be appropriate for this project? The book was published in 1921, but “Five Inches” refers to some of the veterans of the war. https://ia902205.us.archive.org/epub/index.php?id=littleraysmoons00unkngoog&dir=/28/items/littleraysmoons00unkn...

Re: One Book A Week Club 2018

Here I am, once again at this lonely LibriVox forum with my list of books read in Apri: :) " Nuggets in the Devil’s Punchbowl “ by Andrew Robertson. Gutenberg download. Pleasant, entertaining book of short stories of Australian frontier life. Has a definite cowboy feel to it. “ The Mermaid of Druid ...
