George Bernard Shaw - Comedy plays about WWI
George Bernard Shaw wrote several one-act comedies about the first world war, and I would like to suggest that someone makes a dramatic reading of them. They are: The Inca Of Petsusalem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Inca_of_Perusalem O'Flaherty V.C. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O%27Flaherty_V.C...

Re: Will librivox use CC-By licences?
No matter what conditions apply to the original text, we do release everything into the public domain, which is by definition without any strings attached. It's not so much a problem of our own catalog (where we list text source, author, etc.), but everybody else who's using our recordings later on...

Re: Will librivox use CC-By licences?
Almost certainly not. It is impossible to release books into the Public Domain that have any sort of conditions attached. Anne Thank you for your reply. Even if the only condition is mentioning the name of the author? I noticed that librivox has recorded some recently deceased scifi authors? Under ...

Will librivox use CC-By licences? [Answered]
Hello, I have a specific question. I don't know where to put it, so I am asking it here.
Will librivox use texts released under a cc-by licence. A cc-by licence only means that the author must be credited. All other uses, including commercial and remixing are allowed.

Re: Two short stories by Jules Verne and Hg Wells not recorded
I'd like to record The Chronic Argonauts, but unfortunately I can't find an online copy of the text that would meet the LibriVox PD requirements. Project Gutenberg and Hathitrust do not appear to have the text, and whilst archive.org has a copy of what is marked as the 1920 edition of Wells' "...

Hidden PD gems
Hello, I know people who join librivox read a lot. I also wonder if you have ever encountered a short story or a novel and thought "why isnt this story known worldwide?" In short, have you encountered hidden gems in the LV catalogue? If so, what are they? And why is this particular story o...

Crime short stories set on trains
Hello I really love old trains. I wonder if you know any old short stories in the crime or suspense genre set on a train. I already know of Amelia B. Edwards' famous story and Conan Doyle's "The Lost Special". Can you help me find some others?

"The Call of the tiger" by Ethel Lina White
I cant find anything by Ethel Lina White (1876-1944) in the catalogue? She wrote The Wheel Spins, which was the basis for Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes. Here is a 1907 story by her entitled "The Call of the Tiger". It could become part of a short mystery collection. http://freeread.com.au/...

Gong'An stories?
Are there any public domain translations of Gong'An fiction featuring one of the two popular Chinese characters Judge Dee or Judge Bao? I was looking, but I was unable to find any. It seeems as if The Dutch guy started the whole translation frenzy just after WWII? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gong%...

Early biography of nobel prize winner Knut Hamsun
A book about the Nobel laureate Knut Hamsun from 1922 https://archive.org/details/knuthamsun00larsuoft/page/n7 Of course this was before he became a nazi, but it is intersting anyway because he had already written some of his best works. Someone could perhaps read just the chapter called "The a...

Re: [HORROR STORY] "spurs" by Tod Robbins
If you like Tod Tobbins, there is a complete collection of his early stories here. I am not sure what genre they are, though. https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=hvd.hxdmea&view=1up&seq=7 The collection is entitled " Silent, white and beautiful : and other stories " 1920 Include...

Fred M. White's spy stories
There are not that many spy short stories in the catalogue. All I have been able to find are the real life stories of Taft and the short stories William Le Queux and E. Phillips Oppenheim. Ashenden stories (Maugham) are yet a few years from going into public domain. However, Fred M. White (the guy w...
