Updating English on an old book

Hi there! A friend was recently asking me about Pilgrim's Progress (John Bunyan, 1678) and whether or not there were free audio books of it in updated English. When I went to look I realised that all the updated versions are under copyright (for obvious reasons) and all the public domain versions ar...

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

And Tricia, I went ahead and rewrote the intro paragraph this morning, so I think we should be really and truly ready to send this one to the catalogue! Let me know if it's okay ...

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

Thank you so much for sticking with me for more than a year! It certainly was an adventure for me - my first solo project. I learned a lot I think. Most importantly, I learned how critical it is to decide your editing routine from the very outset so that (no matter how long the project takes) each f...

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

Oh - I just realized I need to change the synopsis before it goes live. I will work on that this week ... something I can do without all the recording software. :-)

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

I continue to be impressed with the alacrity with which you read Latin. :) Haha! What a degree in Choral Music Education gets you: the ability to reasonably "wing it" when pronouncing any major European language, especially Latin! I'm sure one or two of my former professors might chuckle ...

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

@ Tricia - excellent! Glad to know it was just under the length limit. @ Larry - two more for you! The first section was a normal length, but the second is a tiny nugget. It was kind of amazing to record something so short after the long run of the last few chapters. The end is really in sight now! ...

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

Whew! That Chapter 6 was a whammy to edit. Checker didn't like it of course because it was 1:07:31, but it passed in every other way. I've also fixed the other two files for you.

Happy weekend!

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

Ooof! And I thought that Ch. 4 was going to be the meatiest chapter ... I've just finished recording Ch. 6 (11,000 words!) and there is some hefty material in there. The raw file is 2 hours long. I think the final version is going to be just under an hour. It will probably take me all week to finish...

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

Only FIVE sections left! Woohoo!
I was doing a little spot listening and noticed that I sometimes forgot to say "This Librivox recording is in the public domain" ... !! How did I forget that?

Should I go back and insert that?

Ah! Great, thanks for catching that. I've made the amplification consistent now.

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

Here's a technical question for you: If I find mistakes in a track, fix those mistakes, and upload the new file with the exact same name as the first file, does the Librivox database automatically replace the first file with the second? Do I still have to paste the 'new' link into the BC window? Eve...

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

I just realized that there are three "end footnotes" that are missing in Section 13. I don't know why I didn't read them, but when I was editing, I made marks for me to go back and put them in ... and then I forgot. I'll fix that this evening.

Re: [SOLO] Practical View of Real Christianity by Wilberforce-tg

And I've actually gotten 12 & 13 recorded as well! Just working on editing them now. Might even record 14 this afternoon if I get some other things done first. Life is about to get hectic again and I want to keep this fire going as long as possible.
