SOLVED - Checker Software for old OSX Mac (Snow Leopard)

Last week I mentioned in my 1 minute test - needed again as all my 'stuff' has changed - that I couldn't get the little Checker software to work with Snow Leopard on a Mac Core 2 Duo (the white one). That ancient laptop was given to me, and doesn't have a single document on it, not even email. It's ...

Re: OPEN Short Poetry Collection 174 - rap

Probably a typo at transcribing. That's why scanned texts are preferred. :D Yes, definitely, show me your new magic powers with ReaFIR! Nope, I'm not smart enough to do this  Tried and failed. It isn't that important anyway. Just a bit of fun. So, just hoping to replace the original text link...

Re: OPEN Short Poetry Collection 174 - rap

Hi Rapunzelina Thanks for proof listening. Much appreciated. The weird thing is that this link https://fromtroublesofthisworld.wordpress.com/2014/12/10/sonnet-vii-by-hartley-coleridge/ does indeed say "nor rays of promise cheats the pensive gloom". So, I should probably upload again and us...

Re: [Weekly Poem] A Solar Eclipse by Ella Wheeler Wilcox -

Thank you Tomas and Bubba. Bubba, Checker gives a volume of 86.7 dB on your file and Amplifying by +2 gives the required volume of 88.2 dB :) Thanks for the PL Erin. :D Ooopss! I ran it through the checker and it gave a green light with zero errors. I'll be separated from the gear for a wh...

Re: [Weekly Poem] A Solar Eclipse by Ella Wheeler Wilcox -

At last! Managed to do my initial short poem as recommended by Librivox. I used the 'Checker' and the volume was too low again. So, whacked all the knobs up to max and re-rendered. I'll have to read up on this volume thing. Think I might be too far away from the microphone. https://librivox.org/uplo...

Thanks again Peter. You are the Professor. I appreciate your taking the time to type all that up. Everything is now spiffy again.

Now, let's find a short poem...

Re: Making your reading sound Great

I did my Librivox test, got distracted, and still haven't done the short poem Librivox Admin recommend doing. Would like to give Reaper a try for that :D Cheers Bubba A short poem would be a good test for using Reaper from the free trial download. You could record it several times and edit between ...

Re: Making your reading sound Great

As far as LibriVox is comcerned , the big advantage in using Audacity is that it is free and most people on the forum can help you with any problems you have. If you aren't new to recording and use another program - go ahead with it. But if you are new , use what's on offer , find out how you recor...

Re: Making your reading sound Great

I just reduce the actual high peaks by slicing before and after (in Reaper) at high magnification and reduce that bit by about 3dB. I never get clicks as i cut at the crossover point (zero crossings) but if I did, a very fast cross fade clears it up. It's more work but worth it. I then normalise (i...

AutoHotKey? Sounds like advanced and scary stuff to me. I'll do a bit of investigation. Must be a user defined macro of sorts.

Re: VIDEO TUTORIALS FOR LIBRIVOX

Got to say, these video tutorials are extremely helpful to us newbies. I should have spent a few days viewing them before pulling out the microphone. The greatest surprise has been that, "There are many kinds of silence..." (cue A Man for all Seasons). I thought all silence was the same, b...
