Re: Character accents

IMHO a well-done accent is a delight, a poorly done one sticks out like a sore thumb. That said, I almost always give it a shot, usually aiming for too little rather than too much. I have been known to spend hours researching what the distinctive features of a given accent are before recording. Whet...

Re: Advice for readers outside the USA

Do you know if the typo is in the original text or if it was introduced by Gutenberg? If the latter, you might want to tell them so they can fix it. Thanks for pointing it out.

Here is chapter 1
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/housedivided_01_oliphant_128kb.mp3 (21:51)
One item in chapter 1 for your consideration:
04:07 to 04:24: "his eyebrows puckered...faint expression" is repeated starting at 04:24

Thank you.

Re: ISO new laptop/device for recording

And if I keep it plugged in, it probably won't need to run the fan, right? The fan runs when the processor gets hot. This has to do with how hard it is working and has nothing to do with whether the computer is on battery or plugged into the wall. My laptop fan never runs when I am just recording.

Re: ISO new laptop/device for recording

Hmmm. Not sure what you mean by noisy. The only noise my Lenovo laptop makes is when it decides to run the cooling fan, which is pretty rare. It has a solid state hard drive, so no disk noise.

A very humorous chapter! :D
If the first few chapters are anything to go by, this should be a smile inducing book. Although I will say I don't get the final joke of chapter 2.

Chapter 2 is ready for PL.

Re: Jumping into BC-ing and Project Ideas

You might consider doing a short book (maybe a children's book, for example) as a solo recording. In a solo you are both the reader and the BC, so you can get your feet wet without any of the interactions with other readers. Of course (IMO) the interactions are both the most fun and the most challen...
