Re: Book missing title page

I’d say the “publication date” refers to the copy you’re reading from, Tom. If you were reading from scans of the magazine serialization you’d use “1910.” I agree. There are two dates called for in the template generator. One is Copyright year of the edition to be used for the recording Clear enoug...

Re: [SOLO] The Sign At Six by Stewart Edward White - dc

Don:
I've decided to switch the text source to Project Gutenberg because I like to mark up my script and I find it a lot easier to do starting with a PG file than with a scan. I've changed the source reference in the first post.
Thanks.

Re: Book missing title page

The eight scans at TIA all have a 1912 copyright date, so I'm confident that is the version PG used. A comment about the book at Biblio says Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill, 1912. [Reprint Edition] Olive cloth. Originally appeared in 3 parts in Oct. 1910, as "The City of Dread" in The Popular Magazine. ...

Re: [SOLO] The Sign At Six by Stewart Edward White - dc

I'll DPL this project, if you'd like.
Thanks, Don. That works for me.

I will probably update the book summary and list of key words at some point. I'll post a message when that happens.

[SOLO] The Sign At Six by Stewart Edward White - dc

The Sign at Six by Stewart Edward White (1873 - 1946) . It started out as a nuisance--odd electrical problems in the Atlas building that cleared themselves up. But then it got worse, the problems becoming more and more peculiar and inexplicable. Scientist Percy Darrow has given himself the task of ...

Re: Book missing title page

Thanks, Don, for the info. I'll use one of the TIA copies as my source. I find Gutenberg a little easier to work with, but I downloaded a PDF from TIA that will do.

Book missing title page

The next book I would like to record is The Sign at Six by Stewart Edward White. Gutenberg says it is PD, but the file does not contain the title page or say anything about when their version was published. His Wiki page says the book was published in 1912. The new projects template wants me to fill...

Re: reposting my questions here as well

I used to record each character separately and edit in the voices; it is a great way to ensure consistency. But it is a LOT of work. The last couple of books I've recorded I skimmed ahead of time to find out what characters I would encounter, and made notes about the voice I'd use for each. The bad ...

Re: Practical limits to headphone 'cordage'

You can get just about anything you want through Amazon. IMO all that happens is that the signal is attenuated as a function of cable length. You might find you need to bump up the volume a bit if you do your listening while sitting in your neighbor's comfy chair. If you find noise has been introduc...
