forgotten books .org

Can we read the books from forgottenbooks.org? All their stuff is in the public domain, but they seem to have some sort of renewed copyright on it or something, but on the other hand again, they are letting people read their stuff for free... so I'm not sure, you see.

Cantos 10 & 11

There's something wrong with Cantos 10 & 11. I think they may be duplicates. I listened to them a couple times and it seemed like they were repeats, so I took a careful look at the text while listening and sure enough they both start exactly the same way. The only difference is that one is label...

Sign me up :)

All I ask is that you give me a link to the new thread and don't make me accountable for more than one chapter at a time because I know I can manage to do one at a sitting, but who knows when I might get to a second and so forth.

It says that chapter 4 will be fixed during validation... so would y'all like me to amplify it and re-upload or not?

Okay, I added the five second silence at the end, so this third version should be workable:

I'm leaving early tomorrow and will be gone all week (I'm tired just thinking about it :P).

Finished chapter five. Link: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ry/war_and_peace_06_05_tolstoy.mp3 Length: 13 min 2 sec Size: 11.9mb There are a lot of very annoying pops in the recording. That is due to the fact that my mic is actually in two pieces, and whenever the second piece moved it cre...

I recorded chapter four, and am more than open for improving suggestions. URL: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ry/war_and_peace_06_04_tolstoy.mp3 Time: 07:16 Size: 6.66mb :? I just realized that I forgot to tell the listener that the chapter ended, so I will have to re-upload it shortly.

Thank you very much! I would be only too glad to narrate chapters 4, 5 and 7. I do have one question, however: how have the other narrators been pronouncing the Russian words (especially names) before me? If possible, I would like to pronounce the names the same way they were pronounced when first i...

If have neither read this book nor narrated a book before, but I do have a good understanding of how it is done and I have proofed for some time now. If my lack of experience is not a limiting factor, I would be very interested in helping with narrating or proof listening. In other words, what can I...

Sorry, I should have explained. You pronounced it with a "D" as in David while the text spells it with a "B" as in Bob. It's very minor, but the name crops up again a few verses down and you pronounce it correctly with the B-sound.

Wait up! I've been listening scrupulously over a few days here and found several errors in this last section: Said: "For I repent that I have given my daughter..." Text: "For I repent that I have given him my daughter..." Time: 1:54 Verse: 11:10 Said: "And he sent him vessel...

I've struck the motherload: the entire open source text for Sir Lancelot Brenton's translation of the Septuagint Old Testament which includes, among other things, third and fourth Maccabees. Here it is: http://www.ccel.org/ccel/brenton/lxx2/files/home.html
