Re: [SOLO] Round the Moon by Jules Verne-ans
I discovered I had uploaded Chapters 10 & 11 without normalizing their volume. Now I have done so and re-uploaded those chapters. The links remain as before, but there are now older versions on the server. Just saying, in case anyone (Annise?) notices!

Re: [SOLO] Round the Moon by Jules Verne-ans
Chapter 12 is in the pot, and now you will know all you want to know about the map of the Moon!

For myself, I wish Verne would make up his mind, and choose either leagues or miles for measurement, instead of mixing them.

Re: [SOLO] Round the Moon by Jules Verne-ans
Chapter 9 is one big whoopsie! (And please be advised - I corrected the math at 12:03. Cursed be the non-engineering knaves who leave off the units they are calculating in! From "yards per second" to "leagues per hour" is not explicit... especially when considering there are at LEAST 3 different kno...

Re: [SOLO] Round the Moon by Jules Verne-ans
Chapter 8 is ready. I have made some changes from Gutenberg's text, as I believe Gutenberg botched the transcription from the original, rather than Verne made these mistakes. At 8:07, I have corrected the number to 78,514, to agree with the chapter title (you see why I suspect Gutenberg). At 9:09, i...

Back to our story!
Chapter 6, wherein we learn some more astronomy.

And Chapter 7, where these fine fellows are about to start a fist fight!

Chapter 4 presages Lockheed's goof of a few years back - in space science, you need to check your work! https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/roundthemoon_04_verne_128kb.mp3 Chapter 5 gives us another improbable scene... but Verne had never heard of "explosive decompression." https://librivox.org/uplo...

Well, in Chapter 3, they take account of everything they brought with them... but Verne has completely forgotten bathroom facilities! And with extra dogs, it's gonna get close in there, no matter how much oxygen they produce!

Re: [SOLO] Round the Moon by Jules Verne-ans
I read this pretty uncritically as a kid of 10 or 11; now certain parts jump out: the expectation that hydrogen, which has no scent, would be smelled if the reservoir leaked; the idea that during the launch loose items would have hit the ceiling! (We'll leave aside the fact that the projectile devel...

THANK YOU! That is what I wished, but didn't know how to achieve it. I sent the two pieces so they could be separately printed, but merging them is better.

Re: SOLO - From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne - icequeen
Here is my summary for the catalog: Jules Verne takes aim at some amusing stereotypes of Americans in this story of a pre-rocketry attempt to shoot a cannonball to the Moon. Those Yankees don’t do anything by halves! His means is a Columbiad cannon so enormous that it must be bored 900 feet into the...
