11-14 in MW. These chapters remind me of that Howard Hughes biopic a couple of years ago, where he's flying over 30's L.A..
This is so well thought out, I'm wondering if this is a Mildred Wirt pseudonym -- but I don't think she wrote for Hollywood. I'll update the summary, however.

Stav, it's not a gender thing I'm bothered by but that I expected this book to be a serious historical novel; what I've read so far sounds like Gone With the Wind crossed with The Corn is Green --- also known as a 'woman's novel'. Lightweight soap opera, not a mature consideration of factual events....
