Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

Hurray! Thank you, cadastra! Do I need to do anything else, or will Mr. Chenevert or somebody else do the cataloging?

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

I've uploaded the other 4 parts! Hopefully they're all good this time! Part 2 has "End of Part 2" added at the end, 128kb constant, and Checker says the volume is down to 91.0. Part 3 has the duplication removed, the sentence with the missing "was" re-recorded and replaced, and &...

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

I have uploaded a new version of Part 1, which Checker says Passed, with a volume of 89.8. I was probably crazy to manually adjust all the volume spikes down before amplifying the whole thing, to avoid clipping. The others should go much faster, since if anything they're too loud. I'll get to work o...

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

Thanks, cadastra. Do you know, should I just upload the corrected files, and they'll overwrite the old ones? Or do I need to delete them from the Magic Window, upload, and then add back to the Magic Window? Also, if you just haven't gotten to Part 5 yet, that's fine, but I just wanted to remind you ...

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

Thank you, cadastra. I used to have mono and 128kb as defaults, but I remember now that I've upgraded Audacity since the last time I did anything for Librivox, so it must have dropped those defaults. How aggravating! I'll go back and fix those things, and fix the volume, and cut that repeated bit, a...

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

Part 4 seemed to upload OK last night, but when I checked again this morning, I got an error message, SyntaxError: Unexpected token < in JSON at position 0 I tried uploading it again and got the same message. I closed the uploader screen, opened it again, re-uploaded the file, and it seemed to go th...

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

I've uploaded Part 4 of 5 and added it to the Magic Window. Link is also here: https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/omnilingual_03_piper_128kb.mp3 Length is 11:32. Incidentally, I've had a dispiriting reminder of why I should always always always copy and rename a sound file when I start to ed...

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

I've uploaded part 3 -- which is now part 3 of 5, not part 3 of 4 -- and added it to the Magic Window.
But here's the URL:
https://librivox.org/uploads/philchenevert/omnilingual_03_piper_128kb.mp3

The length is 15:08.

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

About halfway through editing part 3 -- at 14:59 -- I realized that I had reached another natural breaking point in the story. So I decided to split Part 3 into two parts, so now the project has five sections instead of four. The final two parts will be considerably shorter than the first three.

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

That's what we are here for Trish, to help each other out. You did it very nicely but just one thing, you should change it to "Ready for PL' instead of "assigned" so that our DPL knows it is ready to check out. You are getting more and more comfortable with this, right? Done, ...

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

Mr. Chenevert, I had forgotten that the Magic Window is my responsibility. But I watched your video, which is very clear, and I think I now have the first two parts entered there correctly. So I think cadastra should be able to get into those and PL now. Thanks, cadastra! I'm looking forward to your...

Re: Omnilingual by H. Beam Piper - philc

Sorry about that! I'll do that for the other parts. Please let me know if I need to rename and upload the part 1 file.
