Re: ~ [Kids/Mystery] The Bobbsey Twins on a Houseboat-ans

Exciting! I'd love to claim the first three chapters. (I'm sure I can do more, but I don't want to get over-ambitious during the holidays - especially since I'm going to be out of town for a week.)

Yay!

Do you know when it will be available for download? The website still has it listed as "in progress" and redirects to this thread when you click on the title.

Re: [Kids/Mystery]Bobbsey Twins at Snow Lodge-ans

I'm glad my section sounds okay. I work as a theatre tech, so I'm probably more picky about audio issues than the average listener since a lot of my job involves trying to avoid them. And now I know what to watch for (voices - especially excited ones), so I'll be able to do better on future recordin...

Re: [Kids/Mystery]Bobbsey Twins at Snow Lodge-ans

Here is chapter 5 Time - 11:10 https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/bobbseytwinsatsnowlodge_05_hope_128kb.mp3 I noticed while I was editing that there's a little bit of clipping (I thought I had a good mic level, but I guess I get a bit loud when I'm doing voices) and also a couple of dropped words. ...

Re: [Kids/Mystery]Bobbsey Twins at Snow Lodge-ans

On this and most other projects, we have a sort of deadline of two months that you should try to make, but if that isn't possible you can ask for an extension and most BC's will give it to you Thanks. I know I'd read that, but then I saw all the other recordings starting to come in and didn't want ...

Re: [Kids/Mystery]Bobbsey Twins at Snow Lodge-ans

Hi SweetPea. Just dropping a note to assure you that I'm not flaking out on this. I had a super-long work week (back-to-back 17-hour days, including commute, for 6 days), and likely due to this I've developed a cold. I've mostly recovered, but I still have a tendency to break into a coughing fit if ...

Re: [Kids/Mystery]Bobbsey Twins at Snow Lodge-ans

I loved these books when I was a kid! Can I claim just section 5 for now? It'll be my first recording (1-minute test approved yesterday), so I don't want to overdo it. I can take on more when I have a better idea of how long it takes me to do a chapter. I don't live in the USA - I'm in Canada where ...

Re: Looking for feedback on a couple of microphones.

Thanks, everyone. It turns out that the Rock Band mic isn't that bad! I'm still waiting for approval of my 1-min test, but I think it'll probably work. And it looks like either of those mics are a good option if/when I want to upgrade. (I love the cheese grater setup!) Maybe something to put on my C...

Re: Another newbie in the crowd.

Or, in my case, ask the boyfriend and watch him magically produce one from behind the entertainment unit. (Sometimes it pays to live with a pack rat!) It seems to work! I just finished my 1-minute test - after spending 15 minutes trying to trouble-shoot crazy robot-voice, only to realise that Audaci...

Re: Another newbie in the crowd.

I haven't, actually. They're USB, so I think they should connect. I just feel like they probably won't have the best audio quality. Plus I don't have a stand for them, and it might get annoying to have to hold them all the time. But I could give it a shot.

Re: Another newbie in the crowd.

Thanks. I've actually been reading through as many of the help/advice threads I can find for the last few days (even before I decided to join the forums officially), but I'll definitely review them again before making my test recording... which I'll be making as soon as I can decide which microphone...

Looking for feedback on a couple of microphones.

Hi all. I hope this type of thread is allowed here. If it's not, please let me know and I'll delete it ASAP. I've been listening to audiobooks through Librivox for years, but I'm new to the forums and a hopeful future narrator. The problem is that I don't have a decent microphone. I though I'd be ab...

Another newbie in the crowd.

Hi everyone. I'm really bad at writing these introduction posts, so I'm just going to copy-and-paste what I wrote for my verification email. I am a 36-year-old Canadian theatre technician who knits, crochets, and has only avoided becoming a "crazy cat lady" because my partner has allergies...
