Re: copyright status of Master and Margarita It's an interesting problem. Under US copyright law, anything that Bulgakov wrote (published or unpublished) would normally come into the public domain at the same time as the works of all the other people who died in 1940. However, Master i Margarita was...

Not to rain on your parade, but....

Since I've already recorded Brain Twister and put it up on archive.org, wouldn't it be more practical to read the second or third book in the series, both of which are also public domain? Obviously, you can do whatever you want. But so much duplication of effort, when there's so much out there that'...

Odyssey Honor Awards for US children's audiobooks in English

I just heard about these, as the winners for this year were just announced. Obviously, Librivox needs to work on collecting one of these. Perhaps somebody with ALA connections can find out how to submit a recommendation for next year? ;) http://www.ala.org/ala/alsc/awardsscholarships/literaryawds/od...

Huh. Didn't know there was any challenge to Project Gutenberg on Brain Twister. There's nothing I saw on Gutenberg about that.

Shrug. Already been recording it for Maria Lectrix, not planning on stopping unless given some good reason. After all, how often do I get to record a 1960 Hugo nominee?

Sorry for all the drama, and thanks for the dose of sanity! It's been a pretty exhausting week at work, I had Christmas shopping yet to do, I had choir practice the other night till 9:30 PM, I'm scheduled to sing Midnight Mass and then again the morning after, and for some reason... pant, pant, pant...

Duplicated Efforts

I realize that Librivox is trying to record _all_ public domain works. I likewise realize that the very essence of public domain stuff is that people can do what they want, and record as many different versions of books, poems, etc. as they want. But if a group really wishes to get around to recordi...

I just finished reading Little Fuzzy over on my podcast, but there's a lot of other good stuff. My brother wants someone to do "The Gunpowder God".

Hey! It was part of an Ace Double! Awesome! Here's the old cover (which, alas, isn't public domain): http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/c/terry-carr/warlord-of-kor.htm Good appreciation of Mr. Carr on that page, also. Man, they surely did have diversity in the Ace Doubles series. The month before, it...

If you'd like. It'd be nice to give something back to the man, since I never got to say thank you. :)

He really was a heck of an editor. I loved reading his anthologies in my (very well-stocked with sf) high school library.

Terry Carr never really shone as a writer (though he did write some remarkably thoughtful stories -- for example, http://www.scifi.com/scifiction/classics/classics_archive/carr/carr1.html "The Dance of the Changer and the Three"). But his talents as an editor and anthologist were important...

"Winkin, Blinkin and Nod" misattribution

Don't know where to put this, since I've been away from Librivox so long.... Under the poetry index, "Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod" is listed as being by "Unknown". This is incorrect in more than one way. First of all, the fishermen are spelled "Wynken, Blynken and Nod". Se...

Oops. Totally forgot that I'd signed up for chapters 29-32. I know you've freed 'em up, but I see that nobody's done 'em yet. So I will attempt to finish them this weekend.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
