Re: Tell a joke

A man walked into a bank in New York City and asked for the loan Officer. He told the loan officer that he was going to Paris two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000; and that he was not a depositor of the bank. The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for the loan, so ...

Murphy's rule of hockey: At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle, always arrive last. They are the ones who will leave their seats several times to go for food, beer, or the toilet and who leave early before the game is over. The folks in the aisle seats come early, never mo...

Re: Tell a joke

A minister was completing a temperance sermon. With great emphasis he said, 'If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river.' With greater emphasis he said, 'And if I had All the wine in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river.' Fist in the air, he said, 'And if...

Re: Audio books - underuse

Audiobooks have become such a regular part of my world that I cringe at the thought of them not being available.

Re: Reliable MP3 Player?

Thanks ($200? Yikes!), I was hoping to find something stable for the phone. I've finally given up believing in any of them and write down the time I stopped after every listening session so I can find it again when something inevitably goes wrong...

Re: Reliable MP3 Player?

The LV files play on another app, I'm struggling with MP3's. I have other audiobooks and podcasts and the like in that format and the iPhone player is a sad beast!

Argh.

Reliable MP3 Player?

Aloha all, Does anyone have any suggestions on an MP3 player app that doesn't forget you're listening to something? The "music" one on the iPhone is so unreliable that I actually write down the time in a notebook after every listening session so that I can fast-forward to that spot when it...

Re: 2017 US Solar Eclipse

Our exact coverage was 27% and arrived at 6:30 am, not long after sunrise, so a big crowd gathered at Makapu'u on the windward side. And it was cloudy. And it rained. Bummer. The big observatories on the top of Mauna Kea were all jacked up about it. And it was cloudy. And it snowed. Double bummer. :(

Re: 2017 US Solar Eclipse

We'll only get 20% coverage, should just make the overall color a little bland.

I'll try to force myself to observe it at the beach. Oh, how I suffer.

Re: Comfort Sounds

Yes the grandeur of a green, lush mountain area is a very special kind of comfy background, umm set of sounds? Two versions actually, both of which I've (forcibly) enjoyed while stuck in traffic on the H-3 Interstate (think about that for a second). The gentle white noise of the tradewinds rushing ...
