Re: Play Suggestions
This is one of my favorite works, and I think there's a good argument for being one of the more popular English works Librivox hasn't got to yet. It's got all the wit and humor, combined with cutting social satire of George Bernard Shaw's better works. It's in modern English, and it's also copyright...

Re: Some Books that Aren't in the Public Domain (and why)
I'm speculating there are similar concerns with works that lack an ISBN, where laws and treaties that handle regular ISBN'd books are relatively better understood. I don't think the ISBN is used by LV in identifying a work, its copyright owner, or its copyright date, but I could be wrong. There cou...

Re: Some books entering the public domain in the USA in 2023
Thanks for responding. So it appears no British book of any standing (whatever that means :) ) will ever be read by a Brit, first, on Librivox. For one example, Americans will have the first chance at the Hobbit (in 2033), then all of Tolkien's works will be PD in the UK in 2044, then the Lord of t...

Re: [PD IN 2023] - The Master Mind of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs
Given https://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/webbin/cinfo/amazstorann, I'd say this should be PD now. Per Librivox rules, someone would have to clear it through PG, of course.

Re: Re:
No, nothing that Steinbeck wrote will enter the public domain until 2023 at the earliest, and most quite a long time after that. Why the long wait? The US is 95 years from publication, at least for works first published before 1978. Steinbeck's first novel was 1929, which will leave copyright on 1/...

Re: Some Books that Aren't in the Public Domain (and why)
HathiTrust says 1929, and hopefully that copy will be available in 2025, when it goes PD.

Re: Some Books that Aren't in the Public Domain (and why)
The Australian Gutenberg can be problematic; https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/001373875 is a HathiTrust scan. It should be out of copyright around the world, as George Bernard Shaw died in 1950.

Re: List of Unrecorded Horror, Ghost Stories and Weird Tales
I'd offer "Beyond the Door" by J. Paul Suter (1884–1970). Unfortunately, the only transcription I know of is on Wikisource, but I can offer scans of the original at archive.org: https://archive.org/details/WeirdTalesV01n02192304 . I'd note that Weird Tales from 1923 through 1925 are now PD...

Re: Some Books that Aren't in the Public Domain (and why)
"Goodnight Mister Tom is a children's novel by English author Michelle Magorian, published [...] in 1981." 1981 + 92 -> public domain it the US not before 2076. And with Ms. Magorian still happily alive, anybody outside the US will likely have to wait much longer until it is public domain...

Re: LibriVox 15th Anniversary Collection - tg
My greatest apology; I didn't make the time to read The Fifteenth Man, nor will I have time today. If anyone does, the version currently in Librivox is 25 minutes long.
