Re: A.I Art in covers

You’ve brought up some very insightful points regarding the intersection of AI, copyright law, and artistic creation. The concept of “transformative use” is indeed a key factor in determining whether a work infringes on copyright or not. By altering the meaning, message, or purpose of the original ...

Re: Including reader's name in the MP3 tags

Redrun, I have a question and suggestion... When a reader's name changes in the database, does their index number stay the same? If so, one possible value for the ID3 tag preferred for reader is something like "librivox.org/reader/251". (That's the link to Mark Nelson's reader page.) If th...

Re: Including reader's name in the MP3 tags

Just for consideration, there may some readers who don't read their names in the audio, that also wouldn't want their names in the ID3 tags. In other words, doing this across the board would be seen as an improvement by some people, and a defect by other people.

Re: Not Public Domain, but what if I'm given rights?

Oh, a random note that books published in 1932 will be in the public domain in the U.S. on January 1st of 2028. That doesn't address the question really, but if you wait 3 and a half years the first book can be recorded by you or anyone else for Librivox.

Re: Am I allowed to constructively critique a reader?

On the original topic of the thread, you might want to read the entire thread linked under "Feedback" in the FAQ, as well as the entire thread called "What if I suck?". There are hundreds of pages, literally, on this very topic. But what I really want to say: If Merriam Webster i...

Re: Company owner seeking work to record as a team building experience

Oh, one other quick thing to consider... Are your employees under "Work for Hire" employment contracts, for example a contract that says the company owns the copyright to their productions? If so, having them do public domain work during work hours might be a legally complicated issue.

Re: Company owner seeking work to record as a team building experience

As Availle said, any project that has multiple voices in the same production is going to take a significant amount of time to edit and do post production. That's probably not something you'll be able to fit into a "one or two hours each" schedule. Maybe a book of poems? I think having each...

Hi. A corrected version of Chapter 4 is here:

https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/4hundredyearsoffreethought_04_putnam_128kb.mp3

(Length is exactly the same.)

Hopefully the punch ins don't sound too obvious.

Thanks,

Harley.

Also, I'd like to volunteer for section 35, Chapter 15 Geology. It seems like a good compliment to the chapter on astronomy.

Thanks,

Harley.
