US Gov' publication question

I just found a fascinating document on "Archive.org" about combat tactics. I thought all US Gov documents were in the PD, but this doc' has the following copyright notice... © 1997 United States Government as represented by the Secretary of the Navy. Thank goodness Tolkien isn't public domain!

I'm listening to a reading of "The Silmarillion" and boy-oh-boy that's a lot of made up words. I have trouble enough reading real words. I guess you'd have to sound out the words and keep a little audio library so that you could remain consistent. Yet, if it was PD, I don't think I would be able kee...

A chorus of one, and sea shanties

I was recording a sea shanty (chanty/chantey) and thought I see if I could create a chorus by myself. Here's a link to what I came up with. http://www.archive.org/details/SoloChorusExperiment Here's what I did, in case you want to do something similar. Recorded a once through of the whole thing. Dup...

Solo chorus for a shanty

I'm in the position of recording a bit of a shanty and thought I'd have a go at creating a chorus of one. Here's a link to the first experiment. http://www.archive.org/details/SoloChorusExperiment I'm posting here, hoping to let you know how I did what I did, and perhaps find out if anyone else has ...

Re: Can you explain the legal term 'Counterpart' for me?

Let us all wish more-power to the Plain English organisation who campaign for straight forward language, rather than obfusicated jinglese.

Re: My Kindle is broken!

I have a sony eReader and love it. I haven't bought a single book from an online store yet, but it is loaded up with everything I've ever found of the slightest interest from project Gutenberg. Since I got it, the only paper books I've read have been ones bought for me by other peeps.

Re: Browsers for Windows

Firefox has become a much worse resource hog. It also seems to cause massive memory issues with Microsofts free security software. Internet Explorer, is slow and bloaty, takes forever to start on my system. I tried Opera and Chrome and opted for Chrome because it looks nicer. WHATEVER BROWSER YOU CH...

Audio Game Book

I'm working with a friend on a "Game Book" along the lines of the Fighting Fantasy or Choose Your Own Adventure type of thing.

My friend suggested it might be fun to turn it into an audio project.

Does anyone have any experience of an Audio-Game-Book, or any suggestions for creating one?

Selling your own audiobooks

Can you name a good online retailer for selling your own audiobooks, one without upfront costs but where they take a percentage. The reason I ask, is that I have been selling a few on "LuLu.com" but they are closing down their digital media projects meaning I wont be able to use them anymore. I know...

Librivox => Audible

Just spotted one of my Librivox recordings posted for sale up on Audible... http://www.audible.co.uk/pd?asin=B004VG83D0 ... does this mean that I've "made it"? It's been published by "Cherry Hill Publishing", so it's not Audible themselves but rather some third party. I didn't know it was good enoug...
