Re: [DR]Doctor Dolittle's Post Office, Hugh Lofting - ke

Here's Cheapside the Cockney Sparrow. His accent makes me suspect he spent a few years at Her Majesty's Timeshare Resort at Botany Bay. https://librivox.org/uploads/kathrinee/drdolittlespostoffice_cheapside_05_128kb.mp3 https://librivox.org/uploads/kathrinee/drdolittlespostoffice_cheapside_07_128kb....

One of the great joys in life is to convince a cat born wild to trust you.

Re: [Weekly Poetry] Our Mat by Andrew Barton Paterson - dl

Should it interest anyone, here’s is the poem of Australian poet Henry Lawson, who served time banged up in Sydney’s Darlinghurst Gaol as mentioned in the introduction to this weekly poem. Its title “One-Hundred-And-Three” was Lawson prisoner number at the time. https://archive.org/details/selectedp...

Now THERE’S An Unusual PD Situation

Seems they recently (2014) found a copy of a Sappho poem that had been lost since antiquity.

Guess we’ll have to wait decades before it can be recorded though, unless someone can read the Aeolic straight from the scan of the papyrus.

Re: Teas and other things for one's throat

I seem to recall hearing that "Whispering Ted" Lowe, the BBC's lead commentator on the snooker programme "Pot Black", had it written into his contract that he be supplied with a glass of champagne throughout the evening to ensure that his voice maintained its velvety smoothness. Here in Australia, w...

Re: Completed Projects List

the MC "manually" moves the thread to Completed Projects when it’s done. Tricia is of course too modest. Librivox MCs are considered the rootinest, tootinest thread-wranglers north, south, east or west of the Pecos. I may never ever actually hear one of them refer to a recalcitrant thread as “Ooooo...

Re: Play Suggestions

I’ve noticed that while the 1902 novel “Brewster’s Millions” has been read as a solo book recording several times, the 1906 play version doesn’t seemed to have been done in DR form yet at LV.

I had hoped that my voice would be back in good nick again by this morning, but it's still crook.

So rather than hold up the works, could you please re-open the role for someone else?
