Re: Angular.js search app

I have posted a new update to the Angular App. Version #2, which displays individual book data in a separate panel, has been updated to use an angular factory service to cache data between the two controllers so that the app no longer has to repeat a query to librivox to get individual book data for...

Re: Angular.js search app

I have updated the Angular App. It now has two variants.

1. An author search with title filter.
2. An abbreviated author/title search listing (with filter) that displays all data from a selected title in a separate panel.

[FIXED]Bad link in Herman Melville, Benito Cereno

Herman Melville, Benito Cereno (ID: 3970) https://librivox.org/benito-cereno-by-herman-melville/ The "Online Text" link in the bottom right of the page is to an apparently dead web site. http://books.mirror.org/melville/benitocereno/index.html I discovered this while building a Librivox Angular sear...

Re: Angular.js search app

It LOOKS to me like you may be right that Librivox API is CACHING names in a special table that needs to be REBUILT MANUALLY. Someone could probably write a Chron script for that update. Well . . . that is unfortunate. It seems that Librivox could use some backend help with the database and the API ...

Angular.js Search widget

Here's an Angular.js Search widget I have been working on lately:

https://github.com/pkosenko/librivox-search

Needs work, of course. But it should work well enough to run in your local test environment.

Re: Angular.js search app

I just pushed it to Github:

https://github.com/pkosenko/librivox-search

You should be able to clone it to a local test web and run it while you are online.

It's nothing great, but a start.

Re: Angular.js search app

You are right that "Masaoka" returns nothing on an author search, but I wonder why that would be. Is the name ONLY in a Japanese language table and the API searches ONLY English? Hmmm . . . I posted an image on Facebook, but it isn't an image URL. So you may have to click on the URL to see it: https...

Re: Angular.js search app

I have a good working model of the app created. You are right that the jsonp call should be https: rather than http: I haven't put it up on a web site or posted it to Github yet. One of the issues that I notice is that there doesn't seem to be much detailed error reporting in the API. If an author d...

Angular.js search app

Has anyone attempted to build an Angular.js search app for Librivox? I haven't turned one up on a search of the forum, but I have been thinking about doing it. Here's the initial Controller code for grabbing the data. It is different, obviously, from the JQuery method of accessing jsonp, since angul...

Drupal Librivox Audiobook import module under development

Developers who are using Drupal for site development might want to check out my Drupal 7 module for importing Audiobook data. It is a work in progress using the Librivox API, as you'll notice from the copious comments in the code. Any commentary, ideas, wishes, can be posted to my Drupal sandbox pro...

Re: Complete list of book IDs

Yes, I have been consulting the API page for information in my work. I DID just notice that the RSS feeds for books are based on their IDs. So for the time being I will tell people to reference those. I suppose either you or I would have to write the program that creates the basic list of all IDs (p...

Complete list of book IDs

This may seem pretty simple, but I have a feed going for importing Librivox book information to a Drupal site (it is in development and not public yet). Administrators can enter the path to the book ID API page and import information (rather than have to retype it). However, they need to KNOW the ID...

Re: Drupal doesn't like SSL (HTTPS) feeds

I realize I am talking to Drupal programmers here, but there are lots of them, and some might want to implement Librivox feeds. The following gets rid of the error message and requires a fix in only one place right before cURL is invoked: In "http_request.inc": // if ($accept_invalid_cert) { // This...

Re: Drupal doesn't like SSL (HTTPS) feeds

Well, I have an interim solution, which is to hack the Drupal Feeds module code to change (hardcode) $accept_invalid_cert to TRUE (for all cases). That still gives the error message but it allows the items to be imported. The issue them becomes whether or not the Feeds module maintainers are willing...

Re: Drupal doesn't like SSL (HTTPS) feeds

I know absolutely nothing about Drupal or cURL, but I do remember that cURL has come up before. Does this post help at all? Ruth I am no expert either. But the issue is indeed the one in the post you refer to. I would have to figure out HOW to implement "referring to the certificate in another loca...
