Re: Chapter 3 Part Two Done

(Want any more excuses? I got at least four more back here! :) ) Anyway, it's uploading right now. More to come soon! Roger The perversity of technology! :evil: After all that, I am sorry to have to point out that at 23:33 of this section, there is a short spurt where two voices are talking. I know...

Chapter 3 Part Two Done

Sorry for the extreme radio silence. I had to record the second part of Chapter Three twice -- either the file corrupted or Audacity doesn't like reloading a long section into memory. And my internet connection's been intermittent in my new house until yesterday. (Want any more excuses? I got at lea...

Hi Scott, The move is going. It's not done yet, and I may lose my internet connection next week, but I will keep my hand in as much as possible. On the footnotes, I completely agree with Rowen. Read them when they're interesting, skip them when they simply reference a work. On Chapter 3, I said &quo...

Scott,

Dang! I look away for a few days, and everything starts without me. Sign me up for parts 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 12. I'll take on more later if I need to.

Hey Scott,

There's a problem with section 6 -- I read "viz." as "vis-a-vis" rather than "namely." I'm fixing it now and should have a corrected version up in an hour or so. Sorry for the confusion.

Cori,

I figured as much, and that's a good policy. I'm reading a few sections for the Dhammapada for the experience. I'll post in Book Suggestions, and see who's interested.

Thanks,

Roger

Chris, I can't speak for what Scott wants, but I will tell you what I did on part one. I always read what was in the parentheses. When it made sense, I treated what was in the parens like a parenthetical statement enclosed in commas: "be free from the bonds of Mara (the tempter)." became: ...

@Robert Scott

I could coordinate the Beagle reading, though I have no idea what's involved. Can you tell me more?

@not.a.moose

I know -- he was prolific! I like the idea of doing Voyage of the Beagle, because it was aimed at the general reader. It's also one of his earliest works.
