Re: [HISTORY] F. A. McKenzie, The Tragedy of Korea - availle

Ran the Checker thing and it agrees with you that the volume is way high (not that I doubted you). Not sure what to do with that information, pardon my sad technological ignorance. It says to use "the free MP3Gain application." What is the best way to access that? Again, I apologize for not being be...

Re: [HISTORY] F. A. McKenzie, The Tragedy of Korea - availle

I have no idea what's going on. On my laptop, volume is completely normal, and the volume profile looks fine (see image). I'm using the same mic and settings I always used before this summer. I have no idea what's happening. It's surreal that you're seeing/hearing something totally different from wh...

Re: [HISTORY] F. A. McKenzie, The Tragedy of Korea - availle

Just when I get rolling again, new tech problems. Very frustrating.

Re: [HISTORY] F. A. McKenzie, The Tragedy of Korea - availle

That was the old days; life is too complicated for much breezing these days.

But I never abandon a project. Will resume ASAP.

Thanks for asking...

Re: [HISTORY] F. A. McKenzie, The Tragedy of Korea - availle

Though I am puzzled. The wave form looks absolutely normal, and I can listen to my Audacity recording without adjusting the volume. I was mostly worried that the new microphone was produced a slight tinniness. So I will have to figure out how to address the problems you mention, since they don't sho...

Re: [HISTORY] F. A. McKenzie, The Tragedy of Korea - availle

Though I do have a handy native-Korean-speaking fiancee, I don't have an equally handy tech-savvy one. So, having only learned the basic buttons to push to make these recordings, it will take me a little time to sort out the mic problems.

Re: [HISTORY] F. A. McKenzie, The Tragedy of Korea - availle

I won't be separating the Preface from Chapter 01. Often this is another judgment call; out of the 110 or so books I've recorded for LibriVox, it might be fifty-fifty, not sure. I include prefaces with first chapters when the preface is too interesting or important to leave out but way too short to ...

Re: [HISTORY] F. A. McKenzie, The Tragedy of Korea - availle

Thanks for your comments. I have to admit, my Korean fiancee got quite a chuckle out of your pronunciation remarks. "What is s/he talking about?" she chortled. "There are only two Korean place names in the whole section." I think she was exaggerating, but can't be sure because I didn't count... :D Y...

Re: [HISTORY] F. A. McKenzie, The Tragedy of Korea - availle

This won't be my usual microphone arrangement. Please let me know if the sound quality is passable. Surprising how hard it is to find tech help here that would be so easy to locate in Seoul. There are computer shops, but they look like they're right out of Diagon Alley: tiny holes in the wall on imp...
