edit

Here is the edited version of section 16. It has the same link as last time, but it's a new file. And I got both edits in. http://people.carleton.edu/~mackink/return_of_holmes_16_doyle.mp3 (If you try it immediately (7:42 CST) it'll probably be a few minutes- it's still uploading from my computer.) ...

Staking my claim

I would like to do a section: 25, which is Volume 2 Chapter 12.

It may take me a while to get to it, because I've never read this book! I have read Northanger Abbey, though, and I'm really excited about this project.

http://people.carleton.edu/~mackink/power_of_darkness_nesbit_kam.mp3 New link- this will download as an mp3 - I checked. It's going abominably slow on my computer, I don't know why. I'm hoping it's just a local clog, not an actual problem, but if it's slow for you too I can take another look at it. ...

complete!

Here is the recording of The Power of Darkness. I've had major issues noisecleaning, so there are two version. The first has the background fuzz eliminated but it has a weird tinny quality, and the esses kind of flare. (At least, it sounds that way to me). http://people.carleton.edu/~mackink/power_o...

I am on a mac, and the problem is that I can't download the LAME mp3 converter. I think I may have found a way around it, though, through iTunes. And I really wanted to be able to noiseclean myself. Probably because I'm too stubborn and I want to defeat the difficult software. I'm going to give it o...

How DID you guys noiseclean the file? I've been fidling with everything I can, and have not been able to fix it. What programs are you using (Jo especially, since I'm having issues of a new and different kind with Audacity).

Thanks again and again.

Well now I feel rather silly. I clicked the link like you said and it worked just fine. Whops!

As far as the noiseclean goes, I've been futzing with the controls and maybe making some progress. I'll see what happens.

Thanks again!

KAM Shows her face

Yo! I've popped up in a couple of places, and I figured it's finally time to introduce myself. I'm a student at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, and so proud of it that I've tagged my recordings this way. My hometown is Omaha, NE, which is where I am for the summer. I've done some reading out lou...

thanks!

Well the noisecleaned version sounds much better- I think I'm just going to have to give in and download Audacity, because apparently it deals with that stuff much better. (I'm not using a mike cause I've only just started recording and I haven't decided to make the "investment" yet. And I...

newbie gets her feet wet!

Hey Laurie Anne- This is me, KAM. You advised me a up a few posts to try some the weekly poetry, and I did! I did Kubla Khan. I'm also working on a short horror story- I wanted to claim a chapter of this before they all got claimed (which turns out to have been a good idea) because I love Sherlock H...

Two Birds: Download/Noiseclean

I have two problems. The first is that I have server space through my college, but when I posted my recording there and tried to get it back, it came up as a playable quicktime thing but not as downloadable. Does anyone know how to fix this? The college help site says I need html, but I don't know a...

Here is my recording: http://www.mediafire.com/?1d12lxzddin There is a fuzz noise in the background, which I will post in advice about, since I haven't been able to get rid of it. Also, here is the preface to the poem that I mentioned: http://etext.virginia.edu/stc/Coleridge/poems/notes.html -Kristi...

Preface-?

I want to read this one, please! I love this poem! Also, being a huge english nerd, I feel like any recording of this poem is incomplete without the brief preface Coleridge wrote for it where he claims that the poem is a fragment of one he wrote while in an opium dream. Maybe it could be recorded an...
