Re: History of England 1E by David Hume - arb

Wow - I'm amazed at how quickly things have progressed in the last month! FYI I have recorded Sections 14-16 and expect to have them edited within a week or less.

Re: Favorite Movies

This is kind of challenging - it's not as if all the movies in my head are in a database and I can do "Sort by mental rating" :-) So I don't claim these are "really" my favorite movies, but they certainly come to mind: "Margaret" (Kenneth Lonergan writer/director) - thi...

Re: [Group]The Deluge (vol. 1)/Henryk Sienkiewicz-arb

Hi, all -

Section 05 is ready for PL:

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/arb/delugevol1_05_sienkiewicz.mp3

36 minutes, 21 seconds.

I need to finish up a few sections for other projects, but when that's done I'll give my full attention to this one -

Re: ~[FULL/DRAMA] Faust II by Goethe - tg

How are these murmurs going to work - are we all in unison, or are we sort of overlapping individual voices? For example - MURMURS OF THE CROWD. Another fool — for worries new ! — Whence came he? — how did he get through? The old one fell — he's walked his path. — He was a barrel — this, a lath ! Ar...

Re: Modern books that you wish we could record.

I did read Till We Have Faces ages ago... I suppose it wouldn't be bad to re-read it. Anyway, on the subject of C. S. Lewis, something I would wish to do would be his Selected Literary Essays published as a book in 1969. It's lovely writing and is really actually pretty much a series of lectures alr...

Re: ~[OPEN/DRAMA] Faust II by Goethe - tg

I guess I can do Section 11: Murmurs/Murmurs of Crowd (I.2, I.3); Treasurer (I.2, I.4); Satirist (I.3); Poet (I.7); Griffins/First Griffin (II.3.1, II.3.3); The Youths (II.3.5); Bully/3 Mighty Men (IV.1, IV.2, V.3).

What does a Griffin sound like? More lionly or more eagly?

Regarding non-European popes: For that matter, Peter was from Galilee, no?, which is in Asia.... and mightn't there have been one or more from what is now the Asian part of Turkey? Theo Later edit: well, here's the Wiki list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_popes I don't see the Ephesians etc. ...

Re: background noise that fits?

This is an interesting idea. Are there any works in progress that involve cars driving into and out of a parking lot, or droning appliances?

I suppose that this means something like "For unbelievers [non-Christians], the important thing is to produce a translation that says exactly what Dante was saying, rather than a beautiful and powerful translation which might lead people to actually share Dante's vision and seek God's grace.&qu...

Re: What Shakespeare Heard (maybe ;)

That Macbeth clip really was interesting - and it certainly does sound to me like someone doing an "Irish" accent. "The dagger toward me hand" ... "pro- say -ding" for "proceeding", for instance. On the other hand, wouldn't Macbeth have been played with a Scot...

One other question: In the introductory note "Titles of Rank and Address", the translator writes, "The highest military rank in Poland was grand hetman; next in order came field-hetman [ hetman polny - Theo], which has appeared inadvertently in these volumes as full hetman." When...
