Re: Headphones. What should I look for?

Kevin, I used Sennheiser HD201s, for a number of years, before upgrading to the HD280s. I see they are on clearance, at Guitar Center. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Sennheiser/HD-201-Pro-Closed-Back-Headphones.gc They are lightweight, over-ear, and I spent many an hour wearing them. ...to the point t...

Re: Headphones. What should I look for?

Kevin, I use the Senny HD280s. However, I hear a lot of love shared for the Sony MDR-7506, for their comfort. Although I haven't used the 7506s, I hear they have a flat response like the 280s, without a bunch of bass-hype found in many cans for music. These on-ear, closed-back models will provide mo...

Re: Artistic advice

@KevinS, I haven't listened to any of your recordings, yet, but I'll bet you are doing good work. Re: artistic advice- As Anne alluded, my similar philosophy is to be the best ME, that I can be, when recording. I know I am no Scott Brick. The best Scott Brick IS Scott Brick. With each of my recordin...

Re: Help with "hot mic"

Assuming you are using Audacity, have you tried pulling down the track's gain slider down by 10 or 12dB, or whatever gets it sounding about the same level as the lower-volumed track, and bounce it to a new track? De-amplify the offending track. However as Tov said, if it is clipped, it's still going...

Re: WavePad volume

JF, I do not use WavePad for recording, but have used WavePad before. I have the App on my iPhone and iPad. It has many options to Normalize, from preset -3/-6dB, Peak, or Average Loudness (RMS). Have you tried all of these options, to see if you can find one that gets you in the L-vox range? Readin...

You've got more mail.

Sorry I missed this in your previous post.
@mightyfelix "(Dale, is there any way to record that session and make it publicly available afterwards for those who aren't able to be there live?)"

Yes- I will put it into a Google folder and share it with you and Phil.

Re: Trying out Twitch (AKA watch me edit ... ooh! ahh!)

Devorah and Phil, I will PM you a link and PW to join my Zoom meeting, with any device. Ideally, much like Skype or Google Hangouts, you will need a mic, at minimum. A camera is optional. The video feed can be toggled on/off, if you have a camera. If you do not have a noise-canceling mic set up, you...

Re: Trying out Twitch (AKA watch me edit ... ooh! ahh!)

That sounds really cool, too! Would you be willing to organize that? I would make an effort to attend. Devorah, I may have some time to demo Zoom, this Friday, if you are game. Although I do not have my editing room set up, to demo my DAW on Zoom and show my editing process (at the moment), I can d...

Cori, ~ Indemnity statement: I do not work for, nor receive any compensation from, ZOOM. I am just a user sharing my experience. After reading the other thread about the record:edit ratio, I stumbled on this one and thought this is a neat idea, to share editing ideas and techniques. However, you men...

Re: Audio editing effect question

Yep- either a too heavy-handed de-clicker, gate, or de-esser (if you notice it only on the Ss) applied, or combo of any/all above.

Re: Narration of Bullet Points

Interesting.. I never thought about my approach to bulleted text until you asked. I have always approached bulleted-text like a list, especially when it follows a colon. I get pretty animated at the mic, much like I am presenting in front of a group. I just say in my head #1 (and count on my fingers...

Devorah- you obviously have more self-control than me. I am sure that my audio recording would have included a loooooong, series of 1000Hz Bleep Tones. :?
