Re: [OPEN] Short Ghost and Horror Story Collection Vol. 035 -rap

Thanks Rapunzelina, I will post the tale soon. And if I manage to post it without too much bother, I may go on to look at "The Room in the Tower" , E.F. Benson, which is creepy and a bit vampish and vapire-ish.

Re: [OPEN] Short Ghost and Horror Story Collection Vol. 035 -rap

Hi Rapunzelina, I have a very short (just shy of 10 minutes), humorous story of the preternatural kind. It's by GK Chesterton, and it tells of an odd game of croquet (Titled "The Perfect game"). Would this be suitable for this edition, and if not can you think where it might fit in the LV catalogue?...

Re: Bad memory

Hi KevinS, thanks so much for your prompt reply. The odd thing is I found it again quite by accident, but it's nice to know so many good people are on the ball to help.
Cheers,

Bad memory

Hello all, Those of you with better memories than I have, and who have been involved with LibriVox for some time, may recall a useful little program. The prog checks levels, db etc., and metadata, and then lets you know if what you want to upload is OK for LibriVox. Please take pity on my ageing mem...

Hello again

Hello all, I am returning to Librivox after a long time away and I would just like to thank Phil for his great videos, even if he does say so himself. They were and are a great help, cheers

Old tools

Hi, I am thinking about returning to LibriVox after a long time away. I have a vague memory of using a helpful little tool which would check that everything was up to speck before uploading; does anyone know of such a thing?
Many thanks for any help you can give on this matter!

Re: [group] Short Ghost and Horror Story Collection 022 -ba

Hi Lucretia, Many thanks for your comments, I'm glad you enjoyed it, we did also; the accents are a little generic (West country, South West of England), quite a challenge for a couple from the north of England (West Yorkshire); the accent up here is just as strong but very different. Best regards, ...

Re: [group] Short Ghost and Horror Story Collection 022 -ba

Hi again Bart,
I hadn't realized how very close to fifty minutes the recording was but, without wanting to seem pedantic, with one second silence at the beginning and ten seconds silence at the end it comes to (as exactly as I can read) 50.00.581 (m,s,h).

Best regards,
Andy

Re: [group] Short Ghost and Horror Story Collection 022 -ba

Hi Bart and Lucretia, Here is 'Martin's Close', would you please have a listen and let me know your thoughts. There is a short guest appearance by my partner as, even with the best voice altering software I could find, changing my baritone voice to a female voice just sounded wrong (it was fun to pl...

Re: [group] Short Ghost and Horror Story Collection 022 -ba

Hi Bart and Lucretia, I thought I might try my hand (or should that be voice) at Martin's Close by M.R. James http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/9629/pg9629.txt , but I wanted to ask your advice on a point: As you will see a large part of the text takes the form of a court case, with different char...

Re: Short Ghost and Horror Story Collection Vol. 021 -ba

Hi Bart, I am new to the Short Ghost and Horror segment of Librivox; I usually go for the SciFi. Would you please take a look at the story below and see if there is room for it; it is a little longer than the usual sixty minutes, but not by much, so I hope you will consider it. It was a good read an...

Re: Short Science Fiction Collection 048- alg

Hi Phil and Amy, Well I have finished recording The land Ironclads (c1903) and will submit below; I did have a few reservations: As some of the language is a bit archaic (and non-PC, such as use of the 'N' word) I did wonder what Librivox policy was on this; do we simply record verbatim? Also, this ...

Re: Short Science Fiction Collection 048- alg

Wow! You guys are really good, I searched to no avail! Thank you for your endeavors! I have started reading through the 'Strand' version and have noticed just a few changes in the wording when compared to the Australian PG version, so I will continue and be sure to follow the 'original script'. Once...
