Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise! When you get back, you might want to make a change to chapter 1. At 11:53, "quite enough" is repeated in the text, but only appears once in the audio recording. That's not the kind of precision many readers aim for, but from past experience, I think you...

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

I remember thinking that same thing about the Little House at Allington -- that I never wanted it t end.

(Actually....I'm just replying to make sure I'm subscribed to this topic.)

Thank you, Nick for the wonderful recording you have created. I have enjoyed it so much. It's a valuable addition to the LibriVox catalog.

Re: [Solo] Dr. Thorne by Anthony Trollope - mas

Yes! I would love to continue with the next book! I was hoping you were going to do it. Should get to this last chapter tonight or tomorrow. I'm sure distances here are a bit different than you think of them. Once we got in the car to "drive east" for a week, not knowing exactly how far we would get...

Re: [Solo] Dr. Thorne by Anthony Trollope - mas

Chapters 45 and 46 sounded great and I'm marked them PL OK. It does sound like a crowded time ahead! I won't be surprised if I don't see that last chapter for a while. I hope all goes well for the meetings and ceremonies and parties and the wedding. And I hope your new vicar is a blessing for the co...

Re: [Solo] Dr. Thorne by Anthony Trollope - mas

Thank you! Easter was wonderful! Besides a very joyful Easter service, my brother and his wife came to visit for the weekend. "And a good time was had by all." Hope your Easter was as wonderful.

Chapter 44 was wonderful, too. Marked PL OK.

Chapter 43 is marked PL OK.

The trip to Minnesota starts tomorrow. This time of year, that means giving up a week of Spring for an extra week of Winter. They are expecting up to 20 cm of snow--quite enough to make me appreciate my home with its green grass and blooming fruit trees.

Re: [Solo] Dr. Thorne by Anthony Trollope - mas

Thanks for the explanation of Mothering Sunday. A vestiage of the original purpose of the holiday remains, as we frequently see extra people in church on Mother's Day, who come simply to please their mothers. At about 21:30 of Chapter 43, Lady Scatcherd repeats herself, but there is no repeat in the...

Chapter 42 is PL OK.

I'd not heard the term "Mothering Sunday" before, but the meaning is clear enough. Do you also have a Fathering Sunday?

Re: [Solo] Dr. Thorne by Anthony Trollope - mas

There aren't many more chapters left, so the Doctor won't have to keep it up for much longer! Chapter 41 is PL OK.

Had a lovely and unexpected visit from my son, delaying my getting to this chapter.

Re: [Solo] Dr. Thorne by Anthony Trollope - mas

Travel safely in all your running around!

Chapter 40 is PL OK. I begin to see why Trollope made Dr. Thorne the hero of his novel. Anyone who could keep their mouth shut with that much provocation and temptation deserves to be the hero of a novel.

Re: [Solo] Dr. Thorne by Anthony Trollope - mas

Chapter 39 is PL OK. This chapter makes me think Trollope should have agreed he had two heroes -- both Dr. Thorne and Frank.

Yes, I'll fly to Minnesota. It's the only way I can both be in church on Sunday, and at work at 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Re: [Solo] Dr. Thorne by Anthony Trollope - mas

Chapters 37 and 38 are PL OK. Pride and Prejudice would have been a good title for this book, too. I think we're finally past winter, after the wintery-est (I'm sure that's not a word, no matter how I spell it) February in anyone's memory. We're all glad to see the backside of that month! I'm sure M...

Re: [Solo] Dr. Thorne by Anthony Trollope - mas

Enjoyed Chapter 37 as always. It needs one small edit when you get home. The first phrase is repeated. Hope you're having a great (and safe) time skiing, and that the snow is better than you feared. We have the same type of snow today--snow on top of frozen rain, on top of snow, on top of more froze...
