Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Chapter 15 is marked PL OK. Sorry that took so long. Somehow the email slipped by me. Not a huge surprise with everything going on the past few weeks. By tomorrow the music rehearsals will be done, the presents wrapped and the meals all planned. Only the enjoyment of the festivities will be left. Ho...

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Six to twelve weeks! That's a long haul, and through the holidays, too. I am so sorry.

Chapter 14 is PL OK. That was quite a lecture we got about fair pay for clergymen!

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

It has been a beautiful fall here--the best color and weather that most people can remember. One evening in particular, when the clouds were very black just before sunset, but no rain was falling, the sun suddenly emerged below the edge of the clouds. Every red and gold tree, instead of appearing to...

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Glad you enjoyed your holiday. I am also returning from traveling--to see my daughter's new home in Colorado Springs.

Chapters 11 and 12 were a great break from my routine this morning. Thank you! Marked PL OK.

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

You are certainly enjoying your summer! So glad! There is an extra "only" at 9:45 in Chapter X, if you want to remove it, although "only" is clearly implied by that sentence. You are right that the hurricane does not affect us here, except for deliveries from that part of the country which are delay...

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Complicated indeed! Do you know what "and he points away to the East, where our dear allies the French are supposed to live" is supposed to refer to? I can't imagine a location for Gatherum Castle which would have France to the east, so suspect I'm missing an allusion to something. One edit you'll w...

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Chapter 7 is PL OK.

So nice to retreat into Trollope's simpler world for a little bit. Ours seems to have had more than the usual share of insanity and inhumanity this past week.

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Chapters 5 and 6 are marked PL OK. Poor Mr. Smith! Being upstaged by Mrs. Proudie would be painful. I so enjoy your Miss Dunstable. I don't remember taking much notice of her when I read these novels to myself, but now I look forward to encountering her. I would have loved to hear her opinion of Mr....

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Chapter 5 has a couple of phrases missing. Both sound like edits, so I suspect you have them recorded already: Missing at 12:47 "What letter, Fanny?"....It seems a little odd, because Justinia is speaking, and she already knows about the letter. Maybe that one is an error in the text? Missing at 23:...

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

A Harry Potter play! We've all been wondering how they manage the Quidditch scenes. Hope it was good and that Helen enjoyed her birthday. Chapters 3 and 4 are PL OK. Quite a lesson in the mechanics of peer pressure. My daughter is going to be a registered nurse in the cardiac unit of a university ho...

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Sardonic indeed! I love Miss Dunstable, though--probably more so because I don't have to risk her uncovering any of my prejudices or blind spots. Chapter 3 has a repeat of "some first-class official men do that" at 28:24. My daughter is going to use her new degree as a Registered Nurse in a cardiac ...

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Aha! The site is finally back up. Chapter 1 and 2 are now marked PL OK. Trollope found his witty stride in this one early. I'm laughing already.

Hope you enjoyed your trip! I'm off to Tucson to celebrate my daughter's graduation and new job. Be back Tuesday.

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

Hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise! When you get back, you might want to make a change to chapter 1. At 11:53, "quite enough" is repeated in the text, but only appears once in the audio recording. That's not the kind of precision many readers aim for, but from past experience, I think you...

Re: Solo Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope-mas

I remember thinking that same thing about the Little House at Allington -- that I never wanted it t end.

(Actually....I'm just replying to make sure I'm subscribed to this topic.)
