Re: Public Domain question

Please forgive a personal question: you state that because of the offensive language and because of personal convictions (I see you are a sister in Christ i.e. the JN 3:16) you don't want to read Huck Finn but yet you are MC for it. Please explain to me how one involvement is substantively differen...

Re: ~[Classics] Feminism in Greek Literature - thw

I agree with your pronunciation!

In Ancient Greek every vowel is usually pronounced separately, for example the name "Danae" has two distinct vowel sounds on the last syllable.

Re: Play Suggestions

I'm thinking of offering the 1923 George Bernard Shaw play "Saint Joan" but I'm a bit worried about the number of characters in the play. There are 15 characters who I think really need to be read by male voices (as part of the point of the play is how surrounded by men Joan really was). There are o...

Re: ~[Classics] Feminism in Greek Literature - thw

OK, MW is all sorted out, I think. If the last chapter ends up too long it would be easy enough to add another section at the end, but apart from the Euripides chapters I think they will all come in well under the time limit.

Re: FULL [PLAY] An Ideal Husband, Oscar Wilde - kit

Here's Lady Chiltern Acts 1 & 2 - Rob, if you could PL as you edit, that's probably going to be the easiest way. I think it should all be there, plus a kiss noise at the end of Act 1, just in case you want it! In Act 2 you might need to just check the volume at the beginning - on average the volume ...

Re: Samuel L Brengle books - new source added?

PS - I've just realised that this is an all-women project (so far at least) with you, me and Patty as our DPL! No fellow men yet! ;) Hmm, this can mean one of two things. Either A) : It's slipped your mind  that when discussion was taking place originally, I expressed an interest in Chapter 6...

Re: Samuel L Brengle books - new source added?

P.S. There are 4 Brengle books in the LV catalog: https://librivox.org/author/12965?primary_key=12965&search_category=author&search_page=1&search_form=get_results Yes, I know. But "Way of Holiness" is not part of this 6 book collection. Not that it matters, since I gather from your previous reply t...

Re: Feminism In Greek Literature (1923) by Wright, Frederick Adam [Classics]

Lector Recitator, do you want to DPL for this project?

Also, please add into the subject title [Adopted] since I don't think Todd realised this was a suggestion of yours.

Re: ~[Classics] Feminism in Greek Literature - thw

Thanks Todd! I've put in the titles for interest - lots of key names there! I'll come back and fill in the approximate word counts later today. I'd prefer to hang around in the Launch Pad for a bit to see if we can pick up a DPL. I'll PL myself if we don't get one, but I would have thought this topi...

Re: Samuel L Brengle books - new source added?

Cool! Because I was composing a big post that basically said, "We don't know." I hope I will not be out of line by suggesting that it might be useful to determine this? If it's 10% or 20% or 50% or if the verification would be only acceptable at 100% of the text verified unaltered. It isn't ...

Well, I've got to admit, it would be much easier for our DPL, in particular! :9:

Re: Samuel L Brengle books - new source added?

I'm not sure how much text you would need to check to be sure - not the whole book, presumably. Maybe just the last 2 pages of each chapter? That's where things are most likely to be inadvertently chopped off, I guess. Obviously the online version you refer to is not the same as the pre 1924 versio...
