Re: Does a Smart Tablet make noise?

For what it's worth, I read off of an iPad and record into a MacBook. The iPad is directly in front of a condenser mic and the 'Book a foot away within easy reach. Neither produces any measurably noise to the mic whatsoever. And no heat, which is a blessing working in a confined space. There is no ...

Re: Does a Smart Tablet make noise? (no it doesn't)

I think you could be right about the power. I got another OTG adapter in(of good quality) and a cable that went straight from the yeti to my tablet. Both of them functioned(unlike the star tech one which was "dead on arrival"), but both also had the same hum. I've been preoccupied the last...

Re: Does a Smart Tablet make noise? (no it doesn't)

So i tried out that otg adapter and it didn't work at all. I found a host otg cable that goes directly from mini usb to micro usb and that is going to be my next attempt at fixing this. It should be in by Wednesday so we'll see then if it helps. In the meantime if I have any free time this weekend, ...

Re: Does a Smart Tablet make noise? (no it doesn't)

Ah the old 30 pin samsung connectors... I was just shopping for a micro-b usb adapters for one of those because of the lack of higher durability charger cables(I'm afraid I don't have much DIY experience with cabling - though I have been considering playing with it after seeing a how-to on sleeving ...

Re: Does a Smart Tablet make noise? (no it doesn't)

USB being behind it really makes a lot of sense. I'm using the USB cable that came with the Yeti itself combined with a low end OTG. Are there any keywords that would help me hunt down shielded products? I don't think you'll find one. I've just cut open my own OTG adaptor to marvel at its poor cons...

Re: Does a Smart Tablet make noise? (no it doesn't)

Thanks for the sample, it makes things much easier - scrap my earlier idea about insufficient power. As others have said, it's a 1kHz frequency (which also shows up as harmonics). It's precise and constant which means that it's almost certainly coming from the USB (1kHz is a key sync frequency for ...

Re: Does a Smart Tablet make noise? (no it doesn't)

Thanks for the test recording. I managed to clean out the most of the whiny high-frequency noise from it by applying the notch filter four times: at 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 Hertz, with Q (width) set to '20' (narrowest). Also, your volume is way too low, but you probably know that. I amplified th...

Re: Does a Smart Tablet make noise? (no it doesn't)

Instructions for how to identify the frequency are here: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Removing_Mains_Hum But if you'd like to upload a sample to the tests folder, I will happily take a look. Let's see what the noise looks like before going into Notch Filter. It may not be what you need. Ruth ...

Re: Does a Smart Tablet make noise? (no it doesn't)

I know nothing about tablets, but have you looked to see at what frequency the hum is? This may a) give you a clue to the cause, and b) if it is at one frequency only, mean it is easy to remove while leaving your voice virtually untouched (using Notch Filter with a high Q value). Ruth I'm honestly ...

Re: Does a Smart TAblet make noise? (no it doesn't)

I've experimented without much luck - Android is way behind the competition when it comes to USB audio. If you're getting otherwise decent audio from the Yeti then you're almost there. Try the obvious things like moving between rooms to see if it varies environmentally. I wonder if the tablet is st...

Re: Does a Smart TAblet make noise?

I know this is a very old thread, but is there anyone in the community that has current recording practice on android? My computer is quite loud and is located near an air conditioner that cools a good deal of the house, so I would like to use my tablet. I tried using "USB Audio Recorder" ...

Re: LV Book Club | The Agony Column | December 2013

Not fair as a modern detective story, but I liked it nonetheless, and brief enough that you can forgive it for breaking the rules, since your commitment to it is low. The romantic frame story which works well, I feel. It rather seems a romantic drama masquerading as a detective story. However, for ...

I had this issue at first, but somehow managed to navigate around it. If you would like me to transfer any of the information from the page to this thread, I would be happy to.

Hello again Leni. Here is section 2 (duration 1:57): https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/panamericanpoems_02_various_128kb.mp3 If you have any issue with sound quality or such, I can rerecord or edit as needed. No issues at all, the recording is great, thanks! :) Glad to hear it worked pretty well! I...
