Re: Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan - ce

Just popping by to say I love this project so much. Reading through 70-some pages of discussion I almost can't believe we actually finished it!
You guys are incredible!

Re: [singing]The Army and Navy Hymnal - Selections Vol. 2 -

Surprise! I was in a bad mood tonight and found myself wandering back to my old favorite, LibriVox. Recorded a quick hymn for you to cheer myself up. It's number 53 - Master the Tempest is Raging. I may have screwed up the ID tags, and the background noise is a little jarring going from 1 track to 4...

Re: ~OPEN - DOCTOR FAUSTUS by Christopher Marlowe - ek

Well, I have for you a pretty sorry bunch of friars here for you. These are not flattering character voices. Let me know if you're unhappy with it. I did get a little too excited towards the end and had some clipping I couldn't quite correct. I'm traveling for the next week+, but I don't mind rereco...

Re: [Weekly] Love not me for comely grace by John Wilby - dl

HI! I'm super stoked about this poem. Because I'm SINGING it! And yes, this is as overabundance of exuberance!! It's not perfect, but I'm still pretty proud of the finished product. It's a madrigal, so it's rather repetitive, with no one carrying a specific melody, just a lot of fugue-style entrance...

Re: [Weekly Poetry] Men of Harlech! by Talhaiarn (1810-1869)

Raven - Great! PL-OK! Thank you! David - Great, PL-OK, thank you! Tyler - Your voice sounds really familiar to me. Do you do other voicework or do you just have 'one of those voices' (is there even such a thing?). Great reading! I snipped a bit from the ending silence and moved it to the intro silen...

Re: [Weekly Poetry] Men of Harlech! by Talhaiarn (1810-1869)

Aah, glad to see a few more submissions (including mine!) before this project wraps up. Here's my melodic version: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/tg/menofharlach_talhaiarn_lrs.mp3 The accompaniment made such a great anthem, I recorded it too, though I'm a pretty awful piano player. I had t...

Re: [COMPLETE] Oh, Call it By Some Better Name - Thomas Moor

No problem Arian, I've edited your catalog page to include your real name. Here's a link to it if you'd like. If you start signing up for multiple projects, it can be helpful to keep track of your commitments. Glad you had a good first experience with LibriVox! Hope you stick around!

Cynthia - Thank you! You are PL-OK. :]

If I have time this week (which I may not) I'll take a stab at singing it.

Cat! You have a lovely sweet voice! So glad to hear you sing it. A couple words were switched (the to your, can to shall) but not enough to keep you from being PL-OK. Thank you! Jason! Well done. You are PL-OK. Thank you! A very strong start to this weekly. Hope we have many more coming in! Liberty

Tricia - Oh drat! I forgot to check that before I opened. I suppose it's too late to switch to something else since we already have a submission? Jason, thank you for the insight! A quick google shows you're right about the meaning of 'give the lie,' and I also found this poem has it's own wiki pag...

Re: [Weekly P] Oh, Call it By Some Better Name - Thomas Moor

Nancy, Raven, Elli, Great readings all! And PL-OK to boot. Thank you! That just about rounds out this poem. I'll glance in again tomorrow to see if we had any stragglers. Thanks everyone! Join us next week to record the Welsh poem and song, Men of Harlach! by Talhaiarn. Suggested by catrose! Liberty

Re: [Fortnightly] The Lie - Sir Walter Raleigh (1554-1618)

Thanks J_N for this fortnightly poem suggestion!
David Lawrence should be back from vacation by midweek, and hopefully he can tag team in to take over then.

PS - I'm not a fantastic scholar, but I don't really get this poem. Why are we lying? Help me out here...

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/the-lie-by-sir-walter-raleigh-2/ The Lie is a political and social criticism poem probably written by Sir Walter Ralegh.
