That's really cool, Kri! If you hadn't said it was "very asymmetrical" I would never have noticed; I think it looks great!

The numbers are fascinating; thanks for taking the time to compile and share them, Alys! I think that the bottom line is that most folks will make only a small contribution, and that's why EVERY contribution is important. Some folks can only give a single contribution. I welcome each and every one, ...

Welcome to LibriVox, westwinds12!

Sorry for the delay; my schedule changed and I don't have as much time for LibriVox as I wish I had. I seem to have gotten both of your fables, though I'll have to wait until I get home to actually download them. Thanks for the heads-up!

Re: Recording and Editing

How do people at librivox perfer to mark their errors when recording? I don't mark them at all. When I make an error, I simply redo that part without making any technical adjustments whatsoever. When I do the editing (immediately after finishing the recording) the re-do stands right out - at least ...

I've got to admit though that even I enjoy a note like that every now and again.

Woah... got this one in barely under the wire. Thanks for picking such a lovely poem; I learn a lot just by reading this stuff aloud! http://ChipDoc.com/LibriVox/rhodora_emerson_chip.mp3 1.31Mb/1:26 Chip - http://ChipDoc.com/ I remember sampling the water in a brook by Mom's house as a 12-year-old o...

That's a very nice reading, Deborah! It's clear and loud and nicely paced. About the only suggestions I'd make would be to tack an outro at the end of the poem ("end of poem" is sufficient) and to edit the stumble in the introduction. Don't worry, you'll be reading the intro in your sleep after a sh...

Welcome to LibriVox, Noam! Don't worry a bit about your reading out loud skills. Around here we're into passion for reading and that tends to come shining through. I've often heard it described as "sitting there reading to the person listening" and it's actually quite a comforting sound. We're certa...

So you find there to be something inappropriate about enjoying unspeakable horrors...?

Bashir: So of the stories you told me, which ones were true?
Garak: My dear doctor, all of them were true.
Bashir: What about the lies?
Garak: Especially the lies.

I really like the freeform idea. I've heard a LOT of great stuff here; it'd be nice to have a regular forum to simply SAY that you really liked something or other.

Great idea, David!

I think I am going to contribute a lovecraft short story, just not sure which one I hope you're prepared to wait a while. Lovecraft's stuff is all under copyright which is vigilantly maintained by his estate. Lovecraft died in 1937 so it'll be a while before his work ascends to the public domain. G...

Welcome to LibriVox, Lokon! To be honest, the real reason we recommend that new folks start with something short is so then encounter any technical problems early, rather than after they've read an entire book. It's annoying to have to re-do a 2-minute poem because the volume's too low or because of...
