Welcome to LibriVox, tshirt! It's great to have fresh voices in the mix! I'm certain that this is something which many folks would find useful, but it just wouldn't work for me. As I speak the words I'm already looking ahead for what's next. I need a fair amount of text on the screen to be able to d...

OK, I've got XXIX and XXX recorded and edited. Rather than wait, I simply began reading XXXI and XXXII. The first is complete; the second will be soon. And unless anyone's really itching to do more of these, I'll simply take the last three chunks too. With luck, I'll have them posted by the end of t...

we are considering adding a step to the process where we encourage our projects to have a final listen through before we upload/catalog the files.... Though this is a great idea in theory, it probably won't work in practice - particularly with a long work like Pilgrim's Progress. It really requires...

OK, now that I've gotten The Highwayman out of my system, I've got a few more in the can. I did a couple of Books of Leaves Of Grass and may do a couple more before I quit for the evening. But the thing's 36 megs in size, so I'm going to haul it to work this evening and use the high speed line rathe...

Welcome Steve! There are a fair number of us with experience reading for the blind (and print handicapped!). Glad to have you aboard. It's a pretty friendly place around here. There are several projects going at the moment; just pick something to read and dive right in! Most of the technical questio...

It really IS a wonderful job, and I hesitate to mention what might be an error... In section 01_06 there is a 15-20 minute chunk repeated. We hear the discovery of Vanity Faire and of the trial and even Faithful's fate twice. It was quite well done both times, but perhaps it was done that way by acc...

Welcome to the group! I just discovered this place a couple of days ago, but everyone's so friendly that I feel right at home already. It's great to have you aboard on such a wonderful collaborative project.

Yowza! You must be competing with Kayray for the fastest microphone competition! I'm operating under a peculiar handicap, Gord. I worked in Broadcasting for 20 years before finally coming to my senses and becoming a Professional Computer Geek. It's left me with a burning awareness of deadline press...

Thanks Gord! I'll do my best to have them posted by tomorrow night. Gotta put them on a chip and take them into work so I can use the high speed line to upload them, but all my editing stuff is at home. I'll see if I can't streamline that process a bit...

Thanks for the kind words! Don't worry, they won't all be that way. I'm going to sit down this evening at work and read a chapter or two of something and I'll be a lot more restrained.

Wow, that was a lot of fun! More difficult than it seems too... Great poem though! I'm afrain I'm going to have to haul these things into work to upload them using the high speed line when I read longer pieces. http://ChipDoc.com/LibriVox/i_do_not_love_thee_norton_pdc.mp3 I look forward to doing a l...

I think your recording is excellent, Leo. The only recommendation I've got is one that will happen naturally in any case: just relax. You actually can't help but relax as you read aloud for an extended period and become more and more comfortable with the text.

What a Blabbermouth!

Hi all! I've been a member of The Cabin In The Woods for a while and one of the members mentioned LibriVox. I popped on over here and have been entranced - particularly having spent the last day listening to several folks reading Treasure Island! I've actually got some experience at doing this sort ...
