Praise received for kattekliek (Edith van der Have-Raats) from our 'Thank a reader' feature : Hallo Edith, Hartelijk dank voor het lezen van Aljaska (Alaska) en de Canada-spoorweg https://librivox.org/aljaska-en-de-canada-spoorweg-by-anoniem. Re: Translating into Spanish/French

Just a tip to anyone volunteering in translating the Librivox wiki-pages: be sure to try Wordfast Anywhere . It's free webbased software for computer assisted translation (CAT) - not to be confused with automatic computer translation services like Google Translate. It will make your translation life...

Re: Would a French project work for me?

Thanks, Ovrek! :) I think there's going to be quite some of those mistakes, but that should get better on the way through this project. Happy to hear that you like my accent ;)
I'll put up a project topic when the baby is asleep ...

Re: How do people manage long readings?

Mmm, good one, Ruth! I have a simple, 30 € USB mic, which does not seem to suffer from it (and it is by no means necessary to blow very hard or very nearby the mic, clipping even happens easily when speaking normally ;)). I dare to take the risk. But this one may not be for everyone, especially not ...

[SOLVED] Change pseudonym to real name for existing recordin

My screen name refers to a blog that is dead (actually erased) and I would be interested to start recording using my real name. However, I've got quite some recordings already in the Librivox catalogue: https://librivox.org/reader/5809 Could they be changed to my real name? My question is about the ...

Re: How do people manage long readings?

I blow into the microphone when I made a mistake. This produces a very clear signal in the sound wave. Then I just repeat that part of the phrase. Later on it will be easy to find the spots and cut out the mistakes. Just be careful when listening back (especially with head phones on this clipping so...

[SOLVED] Would a French project work for me?

Lately I read the Dutch translation of "Comment on meurt" by Émile Zola. Unfortunately this little gem was translated only very recently, so the translation will be copyrighted until long after my own death ;) There is no earlier translation, that's why I looked into the PD French version....

Re: [Dutch] Proeve over de opvoeding, door Betje Wolff -bart

Hartelijk dank, Marcel en Bart :) Wat wordt je volgende nederlandstalige project ?? Het vertalen van een boek (publiek domein, maar de vertaling wordt dat waarschijnlijk niet) uit het Engels naar het Nederlands. Daar zullen heel wat uurtjes in gaan zitten, dus voorlopig check ik weer even uit op Lib...
