Re: [solo] The Cowardly Lion of Oz - phil

Don't know if this is some of the MW trouble you mentioned, but both 14 and 15 are linked to chapter 15. I listened and it's fine. Only optional note is that the 5 ending seconds at the end have a really strange noise in them. Don't think it's necessary to remove, but if you wanted to it wouldn't h...

Re: Editing in Audacity

I am late to this discussion but would like to suggest simplicity. Just repeat a mistake until it sounds right and keep on recording. No clicks, no bumps, no verbal cues, just saying the phrase until it sounds good to me. That's it. I tried adding clicks but they are not necessary since when editing...

11-13 are OK! But these poor creatures have gotten into some trouble... what are they going to do next?! Thanks. Please continue to do the 1 minute tests for people.... that is a very nice librivoxy thing to do. I just can't do 'em right now. Ignatius, the Penguin of Happiness http://www.anchoredby...

Re: [solo] The Cowardly Lion of Oz - phil

Yes. In fact I have recorded all 14 by Baum and about 5 by other authors that picked up when he died. I love 'em as a break from the more serious things I record and/or read. About Wicked, I did indeed start the book but could not get into it and just didn't finish. Haven't seen the musical either b...

Thank you for listening so promptly. It is nice to get immediate feedback. Have you read any of the other OZ books? or seen the movie made about the first book, The Wizard of Oz ?

Re: [solo] The Cowardly Lion of Oz - phil

Holy Batman! what is going on with me? Am I just as confused as these Oz creatures? Maybe the book is confusing you... instead of transporting you to a different world, it is just confusing your brain. Since I am not reading it I do not suffer the effects  Maybe so. In any case that is...

Re: Creating varying voices.

My advice is not to worry about it. TELL THE STORY and your inner performer will shine with each voice. Your audience will follow and love it. Your brain will switch with little effort and it will sound great. When reading a story to children do you plan out the voices or do they just come? Of cours...

Re: Is the microphone on Apple EarPods good enough?

I agree with Trish. But please DO give it a try with what you have. You are assured of getting some feedback on your 1 minut e test and it's better to jump right in. You can and probably will buy some better equipment later on but since you are here, turn on that machine! :D

Re: Looking for Feedback from our New, cooler Members

Honestly, I think young people want and expect immediate feedback, even if it's just to say welcome. If the LivriVox community is too laid back about responding, I think it will lose people quickly. People like praise and feedback or encouragement. I'm not quite sure how that fits in with your fine...
