But, without constructive criticism how can one improve? For example I know I talk very fast, so I'm working on that. I am working on recording a very short chapter of Charles Dickens' Hard Times until I do it right. I want people to enjoy the reading and it'll give me practice for when I do the lon...

Re: the "it's okay, we're all winners" comment, I'm curious where exactly that kind of attitude can be seen on LibriVox. When I see a comment about "winners," it implies competition of some kind. Aside from the occasional situation where a BC wants to hold auditions for parts in a dramatic reading,...

I know I say this a lot, but I am against reading footnotes, because I have ADD and use listening to the audio to maintain focus on the story I am reading along. Even 10 seconds away from the story and I can lose focus and/or forget the idea of what I am reading.

I don't mean announcing it, or maybe announcing it at the end of the chapter."

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. There is nothing wrong with being imperfect, but there is something wrong when our society can't admit this. Not everyone is great at everything, and losing or having someone tell a person that their work isn't up to par is good, not bad. I just hate all this "it's ...

It's just that I have ADD and read along to keep my focus on the story. There are a lot of people like me, and there is also a reason that the footnotes are at the end of the page or book, and not within the actually story itself. Another thing to do is to add a separate installment for footnotes af...

monica, the discussion about quality in the librivox audiobooks has naturally been aroused and discussed douzens of times since the beginning of librivox, as you might imagine. Every now and then someone comes and questions the way librivox works and keeps on working with (so called) lower quality....

It's not about competition, but about quality. There are many quality audiobooks on here, but many are of poor quality. Some things the person can work on, while others it is not necessarily his or her fault, but but could be done better by someone who may give the author's book a better voice. Ther...

Just and idea

I know that the way things work is that people volunteer for certain chapters, and that if it isn't in for a certain amount of time, or if he or she can't do it for another reason others can volunteer for that chapter, but what if we have something in which multiple people volunteer for a section, t...

Re: a first go

Hello- I have posted the file at http://www.luketan.com/songs/on_liberty_2_mill.mp3 Please be critical. Perhaps I can go over the first paragraph once a day, getting feedback, for a few days before going into the whole thing. It's hard when it's not your own voice, your own writings. I want to say ...

Carl, There's no policy. My view would be: the listener will not have the book; read what you think will help the listener, leave out what you think will not help. David This can be a problem, as some like me use the book to "read along." I have ADD, and so I use audio to maintain focus. It would d...

I'm new here, but how long can it be expected for books 3 and 4? I'm listening for a class, as I have ADD and it helps my concentration to hear and read the book at the same time. I don't want to go to part 5, until I listen/read parts 3 and 4. I would offer to read a section, but haven't gotten my ...
