Re: BitTorrenting!

I've been able to get my hands on all of the torrent files, but I'm running into the issue where the client that I am using doesn't like to work with more than a few hundred active torrents. This has been the case on my low level and higher level PCs, I'm beginning to suspect that it's a limitation ...

The Resurection

I can't express how proud I am that the work that we put into this years ago has resulting in a lasting system that makes Librivox books available all over the world, possibly even in places where they are considered banned or censored. If I haven't done so yet (and I know I haven't done so recently...

Re: BitTorrenting!

I do recall that. As I understand the technology, if Archive.org's tracker is blocked, then the torrents can still work via DHT and PEX. I don't know if their system is setup that way. Even if it is, there would have to be people seeding for DHT and PEX to work without access to the tracker. They ma...

Re: BitTorrenting!

Without knowing the inner workings of Archive.org and their goals for hosting Librivox books and torrents, it certainly seems that this project has completed itself! Just when I get a chance to reapproach the project. *Laughs* If Librivox still has any aspirations for torrents separate from Archive....

Re: BitTorrenting!

Absolutely!

I had no intention of implying that the Archive was going to...but in my mind it'd give me a little peace of mind knowing that our data can't be lost.

I look forward to the wiki article! I am not a wiki person, so I don't really know much about them, except for Wikipedia, of course.

Re: BitTorrenting!

I've been the only guy working on this project for awhile, but it's with the full support of the moderators. If you want to make a wiki-page, that'd be great! I've uploaded a few files on Clearbits and Burn...but there really isn't a solution for the grand scheme other than hosting ourselves, thus t...

Re: BitTorrenting!

At the moment, since this is a bit of a side project, we don't have any part in the Wiki. The technical details are thus: I have a blank computer capable of handling any distro of linux desired by the expert. I have chosen Erdgeist's 'opentracker' to host the torrents. However, I am unable to get Ph...

Re: BitTorrenting!

We are most certainly still working on this, though it is a very slow process since I'm not technically inclined.

Are you familiar enough with Linux, perhaps, to help me setup a LAMP stack out of my home that would serve as a tracker? If so, PLEASE drop me a line!

Bah, I'll step aside. I'm working on other projects anyway. No toe-stepping has occurred! Each project needs dedicated members, and you certainly count!

Have fun!

Re: [FICTION-GROUP]1001 Nights, Vol. 4 - neb

I was waiting for section 1 to be complete before I started PLing the list, but it appears that Dread is mowing it down faster than I would ever have done. I tip my hat to you sir, and resign my position as DPL, if you're willing to pick up the mantle?

Re: BitTorrenting!

I appreciate the support, both technical and moral! It's a fun project, and I've had some tough times, so far, trying to learn the technology. I went through the process of setting up a Linux-Apache-MySql-PhP server, even though I had no idea how any of those worked. (Still don't, for the most part....

Re: BitTorrenting!

All the catalog pages have been scrubbed! I currently have a Fedora/Apache webserver setup, and I'm learning the logistics of getting a torrent tracker installed. (If anyone can help me with THAT, would make this go quicker) I hope to have our own dedicated torrent tracker and host setup soon! -Matt
