Re: One minute test

Better! Tech specs for the mp3 are good now and volume is much better, but you are still on the low end of the range, so be careful not to get any lower. I still think a little noise reduction wouldn't hurt, but it's acceptable as it is so I will mark you OK to start recording. I used the Nose Reduc...

Re: SOLO Grimms' Fairy Tales by The Brothers Grimm

Meanwhile, this thread will be moved to book suggestions. Once you get your settings sorted in your 1-minute test and a few chapters in group projects, this can be moved back to the LaunchPad if you are still determined to take on such an ambitious solo project.

Re: One minute Test

Hi. Welcome to LibriVox. First, this test file is stereo. It needs to be mono. Second, the bitrate for the exported mp3 should be 128kbps. Your file was exported at 192 kbps. In Garage Band, I believe these settings are made when you export the file to mp3. The volume is within the acceptable range,...

Re: 1 minute test ClarkP

Hi Clark. Welcome to LibriVox. An impressive collection of tongue twisters! Well done! A few technical adjustments - You didn't indicate what operating system or software you are using. The following instructions mostly apply to Audacity. First, this test file is stereo. It needs to be mono. Here is...

Re: 1 minute test

Hi Walter. Welcome to LibriVox. You have the correct settings for the file and volume is good. The background noise is quite loud. Try turning off anything unneccessary that is running where you are recording if possible. If not, then you can try the noise removal tool in Audacity. Settings of 18,6,...

Re: 1 Minutes Test!

Hi Wendy. Welcome to LibriVox. First, this test file is stereo. It needs to be mono. I think you can set this when you export to mp3 in garage band. Second, the volume on this file is too high (93.4db). We aim for 89 db with an acceptable range of 86-92 db. Please try increasing the mic input volume...

Re: One minute test

Hi. Welcome to LibriVox. This test is in stereo, but there is only sound in one channel and some odd noise from the other channel. I mixed it down which solved that so I could listen, but you want to be recording or at least exporting to mono. In addition we need files to be save as 128kbps constant...

Re: One Minute Test {RAW}

Hi Feroz. Welcome to LibriVox. You have the correct settings for your mp3 file, but the volume is very low (76.2 db). We aim for 89 db with an acceptable range of 86-92 db. Please try increasing the mic input volume either in Audacity or in the Sounds and Audio section of the Control Panel. You shou...

Re: 1-Minute Test

Hi Jeremy. Welcome to LibriVox. Good test! Your volume is at 87.6 with is in the target range of 86-92. Just be careful not to drift any lower. Your background is acceptable, but I would recommend you try a little noise reduction and see what you think. The default settings should work fine. http://...

Re: [NATURE] Birds Vol 1, No 3, March 1897 - jo

Larry - There is one word missing in section 1, but it doesn't change the meaning to any great extent, so I'm marking it PL OK. If I wasn't following along with the text, I wouldn't have noticed. I'll leave it up to you if you want to fix it.

Re: Venus Has Green Eyes - Repeated Section

The link for the 64kb version of part 2 is incorrect and points to part 1. The 128kb file is OK. Give me a minute and I'll fix it.

Re: record test 1 minute

The English test was designed to identify microphone placement issues such as plosives and sibilants, but you can record your test in any language.
