I have a proposal: If someone doesn't like a particular description text b/c of spoilers, please propose an alternate description text. If a BC/MC feels inspired to make the changes, the summary will get replaced with the proposed changes. Otherwise, we'll get on with our main mission, which is: To...

I just posted a message in the error forum. I see there was an odd numbering jump at one point. This seems to have resulted in a problem in what should have been 58. The reader says it is 61. The problem also appears on the Librivox webpage for the book. If you look down the chapters, you'll see the...

I see when comparing with Gutenberg there is a chapter numbering difference. Did some chapters get combined or split in some edition somewhere along the line? I'm guessing that possibly this reader used a different source for 58 (or 61 or whatever it is).

[FIXED] Varney the Vampyre

There seems to be a problem with "Varney the Vampyre." The file that should be chapter 58 seems to be 61. Or at least the reader says it is 61. If you look at the book's page at: http://librivox.org/varney-the-vampyre-vol-1-by-t-p-prest/ You'll see 58 is even listed as being 61. Then later...

Book Descriptions

Several times I've noticed book descriptions really include too many spoilers. The Dickens story "The Cricket on the Hearth" is a good example. It seems there's sometimes an incredible amount of work put into recording and checking but the desciption is thrown together as an afterthought. ...

Elizabeth Gaskell [FIXED]

Author Elizabeth Gaskell is listed two different ways. Depending on how you search, you won't get all of her works listed. Example, click on her name on the "North and South" page and you won't see "Cranford" listed among her writings.

I've had a few downloads that seemed to go fine until I tried to unzip them. Then they were reported as corrupt.

A little while back there were a lot of news stories concerning Apple putting volume limits in iPods. As I recall, some of the stories said it wasn't necessarily loud volumes that caused hearing problems, but also the length of time that sounds occurred. I believe there were suggestions of taking so...

Taking aspirin frequently can cause the problem on a temporary basis. I suspect other medications can, too.

Personally, I very rarely care about accents. I do think it might be worthwhile to discuss just what tags would be useful. Five or ten years from now it will be much more difficult to go back and add anything new. If there are ten versions of "A Tale of Two Cities" then what would be usefu...

We've seen Librivox grow a lot. There's no reason to think it won't continue. Currently, many books are only available in one version but some have multiple recordings. How many will there be in five years? This is the point in time when the database can be revised and expanded without impossible ef...
