Welcpome Karen

Your audio meets LibriVox requirements, so you are good to go.

Happy narrating!

Re: Nick 1 min test

No, try to get the plosives down. It's a real problem for listeners.

Yes, another test please.

Re: Nick 1 min test

Well, it's better. If your mic is oft one side about 45 degrees and angled that usually solves plosives, since your breath shouldn't hit the mic. Perhaps you are too close? Should be 8 to 12 inches. If you haven't tried one, foam wind screens work very well, and are only about $5. They also don't ge...

Re: Recording Startup Difficulty

The first word is clipped. I note that your noise floor is extremely low at -87dB. Are you using any sort of noise gate or noise removal? If so, try without and see if it makes a difference. Noise gates set at too low threshold are notoriously for clipping-off the beginning of words.

Re: Test Recording for Juan Carrion

Welcome Juan All your technical settings correct, so well done. There is however a bit too much background noise. It sounds mechanical like a PC fan. Try to isolate your mic from the noise, such as computer fan. If that isn’t entirely successful, use Audacity’s Noise Removal filter to reduce the bac...

Re: James One Minute Test

Welcome JJ I reviewed your test sample, and while it sounds good there are some technical changes needed. LibriVox requires audio that is 128kbps constant bit rate MP3, 44.1kHz sample rate, mono, and between 86dB and 92dB, preferably 89-90. Your test audio settings are all good except the volume, wh...

Re: tshoes76 1-minute test recording posted

Well done. The volume is now a bit on the high side of the range at 91.6dB. There is a clip at 0:03, that is the volume exceeds 100. Shoot for 89 so you have a margin of safety. There is also a bit of fan noise at this volume. Try to isolate your mic from the noise, such as computer fan. If that isn...

Re: Nick 1 min test

Okay, some improvement, but your audio is now 320kbps bit rate, and the volume is still low at 82.9dB. I'm still hearing plosive sounds on the P's in Peter Piper. There is also a bit of room reverb. You can find advice on improving issues like room echo and plosives in the Librivox wiki: https://wik...
