Re: 2024 Microphone Recommendations

My suggestion is the Audio-Technica AT2500x USB. $67.95 from Amazon. Add a foam windscreen for about $4.

Your audio meets LibriVox requirements, so you are good to go.

Re: 1 minute test (number 3) PATRICK REGAN

Hi Patrick The acoustics are OK, but could still be better. There is some room echo still. There are borderline plosive sounds on the P's. Move your mic more off-center and/or add a pop screen or foam cover (which are cheap and work well). The volume is below the 86 - 92dB range at 84.2dB. Raise the...

Re: 1-Minute Test CarolynA, Take 2

Your audio meets LibriVox requirements, so you are good to go. One note: Your volume is 91.8dB, just barely below the maximum of 92. Reduce by about 3dB going forward to allow a margin of safety.

No need for a new test.

Re: 1-Minute Test Recording by ZefEgan

Hi Zef (Winnifred is unavailable, so I'm following-up for her.) Your settings and volume are correct, so well done. There is still too much background noise by about 15dB. It sounds mechanical, like a fan. Try to isolate your mic from the noise, such as computer fan. If that isn’t entirely successfu...

Okay, you are good to go. One note: Your volume is 91.8dB, barely below the maximum of 92. You should reduce your volume about -3dB going forward to allow a margin of safety.

No need for a new test.

Re: 1 Minute test recording

Welcome Summer I reviewed your test sample, and while it sounds good there are some technical changes needed. LibriVox requires audio that is 128kbps constant bit rate MP3, 44.1kHz sample rate, mono, and between 86dB and 92dB, preferably 89-90. Your test audio is 99kbps variable bit rate, and the vo...

Hi Marilyn This solvable. To help you, I need the following info: What make/model of mics What computer or other device you are recording on. including the OS (i.e., Mac, PC, other device, etc.) What software you are using (i.e., Audacity or something else). Re: new test PATRICK REGAN

Okay, the room echo is much improved and the volume (minus the long blank space) is good. However the bit rate is 45kbps variable, and must be 128kbps constant, When exporting your MP3 from Audacity, go to File>Export Audio. In the pop-up menu select: Format: MP3 Files Channels: Mono. Sample Rate: 4...

Re: 1 Minute Test - Realfunghi

Volume is better at 79.8dB, but still well below the minimum of 86 and the target of 89. Turn your input gain up more and/or use Effects>Amplify. Do download and use Checker; it will save you a lot of time. There is still too much room reverb, giving your voice that distant, hollow sound. The space ...
