Re: Test recording by hpetie
Hi hpetie I reviewed your test sample, and while it sounds good there are some technical changes needed. LibriVox requires audio that is 128kbps constant bit rate MP3, 44.1kHz sample rate, mono, and between 86dB and 92dB, preferably 89-90. Your test audio volume is too low at 81dB. There is also too...

Re: 1-Minute Test Recording by ZefEgan
Thanks so much for your help, SJ! How do I tell what the overall volume is on Audacity so I can optimize in the future? Okay, it's a little bit confusing. Checker is measuring the overall average volume, and uses a 0 to +100dB scale. This is not standard. Almost all recording apps, including Audaci...

Re: 1 Minute Test for Caleb Olsen.
Okay, it's a little bit confusing. Checker is measuring the overall average volume, and uses a 0 to +100dB scale. This is not standard. Almost all recording apps, including Audacity, use the scale 0dB (maximum volume possible) to -100dB (silence). The measurement is called RMS (root-mean-square, a f...

Re: 1-Minute Test Recording by ZefEgan
The overall volume is 88.3dB, so it is not too loud at all. Optimum is 89 (88 is fine).
You are good to go.

Welcome Kris
Your audio meets LibriVox requirements, so you are good to go. I see you are considering getting a new mic. If you do, you might want to submit a new test to ensure that your new setup is good.

Re: 1-Minute Test Recording by ZefEgan
Okay, the background noise is better with cleaning. The overall volume however, is too low by about 7dB. This may be volume loss as a result of the noise reduction. After NR, you may need to adjust the volume back up to compensate. Adjust the volume level before exporting by going to Effects>Amplify...
