Thanks for the heads up, Jo, and many thanks for being MC on this project. You MCs don't get the attention you deserve--without you, we readers would just be files on our computers!

Re: ZOOM Discussion Thread

The character of police officer Billy Bob was based on John’s favorite brother, who was a sheriff in Toad Suck, Arkansas” Yes, Virginia, there is a Toad Suck, Arkansas, where I once saw a catfish large enough to fill the back of a pick-up truck. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toad_Suck,_Arka...

Section 6 is up, Colleen. It's relatively short, so hopefully won't be so hard to PL as some of the others. The past few months have been quite a ride, what with Covid, our California wildfires, and one of the crazier political times I can remember. Real life almost makes Hammett's stories tame by c...

Something different for this month: An optional theme! October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month , and it recently having been mentioned that female poets are underrepresented at Librivox, let's combine these two issues and dedicate this month's collection to female poets. Great idea, Rapunzelina...

The 1865 edition referenced in the introduction is available at https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/001261706. Since it's a scan of the actual volume, it might be more readable than the 1825, which is from microform.

And from what I have seen of paid readers with an engineer, it doesn't finish up much quicker
That's because the engineers are getting paid by the hour. :D

LibriVox has one Macfarlane SF short in the catalog, but it's not a Ravenshaw story.

No rush, Colleen. I'm taking my time cranking them out but will probably have the last two stories uploaded in the next couple of months. Regarding Chandler and Hammett, I thought you might be interested in this photo of what may have been the only time they met: https://thrillingdetective.wordpress...
