Yeah -- I like putting in the date and place. Place because we have such a geographically diverse bunch of people with very different accents. I just think that's interesting, and worth spending a second saying out loud.

And dates -- well, these are archives, aren't they?

That's an excellent way of doing it, because it still sounds like real words.

I think I had somehting like it in Frankenstein and said 'seventeen-blankty-blank' -- which is perilously close to the English gameshow with Les Dawson.

Hmmm. Awkward.

The Henry James had some ways of referring a black man that made me feel a little uncomfortable but that wasn't actually a slur. I just read it... It might be different in a situation where there are definite different versions extant.
