Re: 'Thank You' messages for LibriVox readers - continued
Praise received for time bulkeley (Tim Bulkeley) from our 'Thank a reader' feature : I would so like to thank Tim Bulkeley for his wonderful reading of Walter Hartwright’s part in Wilkie Collins’ The Woman in White. In fact all the readings were done beautifully, making this one of the best listeni...

Re: [SOLO] France at War by Rudyard Kipling - smijen
Hmm. Might there be difficulty fitting it on the CD case thing people sometimes do? Or another reason to shorten it? If so do you know how much would be desirable?

Re: [SOLO] France at War by Rudyard Kipling - smijen
I left the "draft" comment because although I think it is the best I can do now I wondered if either of you might have suggestions for improving it... if not I am happy with it, I even caught another typo this morning while checking the contents.

Re: [SOLO] France at War by Rudyard Kipling - smijen
Thanks :) And thank you both for all the help with logins and things! As well as coping with funny sample rates etc. I am glad to have it finished as Barbara is on sabbatical and we head away soon for two months teaching in the Philippines and Sri Lanka , with a few days visiting friends in Thailand...

Re: [SOLO] France at War by Rudyard Kipling - smijen
Maybe somehow just changing the project rate before exporting as MP3 did not do it, I have done them again this time exporting the project to FLAC at the new rate then opening that and exporting as MP3, hope that has done it

Re: [SOLO] France at War by Rudyard Kipling - smijen
Uploaded modified files, I took the original file (at 9600) and reduced the project rate in Audacity to 44100 and then exported as MP3 as usual. I took the opportunity to make the compression similar on one or two that had larger variability.

Re: [SOLO] France at War by Rudyard Kipling - smijen
Oh, bother, that comes from someone asking for "as good quality as you can manage" for a voice for a computer game, and me forgetting to reset the settings. I will convert the uncompressed files to MP3 at the correct rate, but they might therefore (since they were recorded at the higher ra...

Re: [SOLO] France at War by Rudyard Kipling - smijen
The last/first section is now ready for PL. At: https://librivox.org/uploads/smijen/franceatwar_00_kipling_128kb.mp3 it is 5:07 and 4.68MB I don't really enjoy reading Kipling's poetry, so please feel free to be more critical of the reading, so I can improve it!

Re: [SOLO] France at War by Rudyard Kipling - smijen
Thanks :) I have mixed feelings about it, on one hand I have been annoyed by BBC and ABC podcasts that have sections that are too quiet to hear in the car, on the other I like to keep a bit of variability of volume as well as pitch. I'll leave it for Smijen to decide! I hate to think how much clumsi...

Re: [SOLO] France at War by Rudyard Kipling - smijen
I had already compressed it, but have run the compressor over it again. I have uploaded it with the temporary filename: https://librivox.org/uploads/smijen/franceatwar_06_kipling_128kbXTRACOMPRESSED.mp3 so someone can decide which version sounds better. The figure for the new file is 89.8, so in ter...

Re: [OK]Just So Stories (version 4) paragraph corrected
Than ks, I got a nasty shock when I found a missing bit as I was adapting it as video. So it's good to know it is fixed!
