Re: DRAMATIC READING: Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomer
I would like to have a stab at the Stationmaster, but I am resident in the United Kingdom, will that cause a problem?

Re: Dramatic Works suggestions
I would probably do it myself, if I knew the ins and outs of how to do it, but would be more than happy to turn a public domain text into a script if that would help issues?

Re: Dramatic Works suggestions
May I be so bold as to nominate a dramatic work version of "Around the World in Eighty Days" by Jules Verne with a different person reading each character's part (for instance someone with a Central London English accent reading Phileas Fogg, someone with a South of England English accent ...

Re: An old member trying again
Great test! Love the accent. Volume is a bit low though. I amplified it by 7 db and there was no significant background noise. Make sure your mic input is up to max. In audacity, move the microphone slider all the way up. You can also set the mic input through windows. (do both) Click 'co...

Re: Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan - ce
I have uploaded my test as requested at http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/tests/test_welshlibrarian.mp3 and would like to help with this again if I may (or if all parts have been allocated, would be happy to help with any other G&S suggestions). Might I put forward the idea of Iolanthe gi...

Re: An old member trying again
Hopefully a new laptop computer, professionally approved headset mic and a wireless connection should put me in a better stead

Despite all my best efforts, I cannot get rid of the plosives. I am using a headset microphone (as that is all I can afford) but would like to play the Sargeant in some way. Can anyone make any suggestions as to how I can still help? I could quite happily record my lines on YouTube is that would hel...

First of all, the sound itself is good, no background noise (and no hum, as you mentioned). Well, that's the important bit! There are several technical problems, though: I'm showing a bitrate of 320kbps; it needs to be 128kbps (constant, not variable, or VBR). The recording is in stereo, it should ...

It just so happens that you replied whilst my computer was being repaired for a failed power pack and I have only just got it back (and I think that might have been a good thing as I have just done a test and found that the hum has disappeared), so here's hoping: http://upload.librivox.org/share/upl...

Thank you very much indeed for letting me volunteer
I've been reading through those instructions and seem to have a problem with a continual hum (i.e background noise) and the only thing that doesn't generate a hum is the Text to Speech function (which I think would be cheating), so any advice on that score would be very helpful indeed. I would prefe...

If I am reading the front page correctly
do I understand that you need a Sargeant (with his complaints about life in the police force?). If so, could I volunteer for that and ask at the same time, does it matter if the Sargeant sings or speaks: No matter. Our course is clear: we must do our best to capture these pirates alone. It is most d...

In answer to the orgingal question
A broadcast date of Easter 2010 has been tipped (most likely date April 3rd 2010). The United States may have to wait between a fortnight and a month
I've been watching as much of the Olympics
as much as an eight hour time difference will allow and wish to say that I do not believe recent British press coverage saying the Games have been terrible. When Jacques Rogge announces that "Vancouver have been the best Games ever" I shall be nodding in complete agreement
