Re: One Minute Test

For Librivox, all you need to focus on is the basic specifications. Adding reverb or other vocal changes is fine, as long as the audio is intelligible. For commercial audiobooks, reverb is generally frowned upon. The current fashion is for a very dry sound. However, in multivoice dramatic recordings...

Re: One Minute Test

By "peak level" I mean the loudest part of the audio. When you select a portion of an audio track in Audacity and select "Amplify" the figure specified in the Amplification field indicates the peak volume. If it says 4.0 Db, that means an actual peak of -4.0 dB. In my own recordings I usually aim fo...

Re: One Minute Test

Hi Sam Welcome to Librivox. Audio quality of test recording was good - except that it was rather on the quiet side. A good way of checking volume levels - and other specifications is the the Checker programme: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker According to Checker the desired volume level ...

Re: 1 Minute Test

The MXL V67G has a rich "broadcast" sound: I think that you would enjoy using it. It also looks pretty cool.

Re: 1 Minute Test

The updated reading has met all the required specifications. However, it could be still a touch louder. You can go forth and record. The Behringer Uphoria unit is a good piece of kit - I have one myself. I would suggest that you replace the tripod with a more robust stand. Tripods are not only awkwa...

Re: 1 Minute Test

Hi Natasha Welcome to Librivox The volume on your test is much too low. Volume level can be checked using the Checker programme: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker In this case the volume was 72 dB - it should be between 86 and 92 dB I amplified your recording and noted a high level of back...

Re: 1 Minute Test Feedback

Hi Tivia Welcome to Librivox. Your test reading sounded fine, except that it was a little on the loud side. Otherwise all specifications were correct. You can check your volume level by using the Checker Program: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker The level should be between 86 and 92 dB. I...

Re: One minute test - SteveMiller

Hi Steve Welcome to Librivox. I checked both recordings - each of them ticks all the right boxes regarding specifications. Excellent vocal presentation - obviously you have been behind a mic before. You should be right to go ahead and record. Your set up is impressive. I have used the Steinberg UR12...
