The problem with cassettes was that they were very noisy, due to the very slow running speed - 1 and 7/8 inches per second. Bic made a double speed cassette deck which sounded much better, but which never became popular. The big reel to reel machines used to run at 15 inches per second - a lot of ta...

I would like to read Section 25 (The Mountebank Criticizes).

By the way, the opening post needs amending - because Maxwell Bodenheim died before 1955 his work is in the public domain in Australia.
