Re: Some more obscure 1923 Books (List)

It would be cool if you could read that! The League of Nations was the precursor to today's United Nations, I think we have their statutes already in the catalog? Anyway, since this is only 13 pages, and probably less than an hour of finished recording, it fits perfectly into our nonfiction collecti...

Re: Some Books that Aren't in the Public Domain (and why)

Hi there and welcome to LV! I had to look up what you mean  and it seems that the books we don't have in our catalog yet are still copyrighted. Wikipedia has a list on here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barsoom and according to US copyright, which extends until 95 years after publication (*),...

Re: ~[COUPLES BIO] Little Journeys to the Homes of Great Lovers, by E. Hubbard - availle

That would be cool, thanks Maddie! There is one part that will be done as play/dramatic reading (because that's how it's written). I will do the editing, but I would like somebody to PL the part files against the text. Is that okay with you? You would also have to listen to the whole thing ...

Re: ~[COUPLES BIO] Little Journeys to the Homes of Great Lovers, by E. Hubbard - availle

Oh, another Friedrich. Hard to say, really. In German, we use the term Dr. almost exclusively to address people with an MD, which rules out my guy. It's also possible that the text is wrong about the Umlaut. They both fit though, and as scientists, it is possible that they did a lot of travell...

Re: ~[COUPLES BIO] Little Journeys to the Homes of Great Lovers, by E. Hubbard - availle

She's yours, enjoy. Please upload in two parts, the usual play intro "Helene von Donninges, read by..." in the beginning. You know the drill. I have found a Christian Friedrich Haenle who would have been a contemporary of Lassalle and Helene, but the German wikipedia entry is not very detaile...

I haven't heard back from the reader of section 12, so we have an orphan. Any takers? :D

Re: [COMPLETE] Korea and Her Neighbors by Isabella L. Bird - availle

Thank you very much for listening and for pushing this to completion with me! This project is now complete. All files can be downloaded from the catalog page: https://librivox.org/korea-and-her-neighbors-by-isabella-l-bird/ I already have my eye on another of her books, but I'd like to take a little...

Re: [TRAVEL] Korea and Her Neighbors by Isabella L. Bird - availle

Great, thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. She was indeed a fascinating person! A friend of mine wrote about Isabella in her latest books " The Women I Think About At Night ". There are also accounts on Karen Blixen (the biggest chunk of the book), Ida Pfeiffer, Mary Kingsley, Alexandra Da...

All yours, thank you!

We're doing one couple as a play - because that's how it's written - so if you'd like to play an (important) role in that one as well, just let me know. Details are at the end of the MW.

You cannot assign a dpl, that's the MC's job - which I have done now. :D Nobody gets automatic notifications for uploads here - with 100 books completed a month, say 15 sections each that would be a lot of traffic (not to mention all the tests) - so please do keep posting when you upload new...

Re: PL errors from long ago

I listened to it, it's a tiny editing glitch after the "end of section" statement, just before the end of the recording. Not worth fixing after 12 years and almost 80000 downloads. Replacing an old recording is quite a pain and for very old projects, the recording has propagated through the internet...

Re: SOLO THE ANSWER by Emil Petaja

HI Ty? I see you have changed your first post to a completely new project. Please don't edit your posts once you have received answers, it's confusing at best and rather rude at worst. In any case, your new project will be less than 30 minutes once it's completed. That means it will fit perfectly in...
