Re: A Chinese story

A little critical thinking would go a long way for the subjects of this sort of story. It's a shame we don't make more of an effort to teach that to children...

Toilets were harder to unclog back then!

Re: Congress may re-copyright Public Domain

im not american so i dont know if this is possible over there after all, but where i come from this would be against legal certainty and therefore it should be impossible to pass a bill like that (discussing it would probably catapult you to the constitutional court). i would like to think it would...

Re: Petition to reduce the term of copyrights

Not to pooh-pooh the petition, but there are larger forces at work here than public interest... as shameful as that is. The white house could probably guess that people don't like copyright extensions, but extensions will continue to pass regardless. Moneyed lobbyists have a disturbing amount of clo...

Re: A video discussing copyright protection legislation

It's pretty exasperating. SOPA and PIPA have been shelved temporarily, but will probably return with similar problems. Meanwhile, ACTA and PCIP are basically the same song and dance: introduce the tools of censorship without accomplishing stated goals. The wave of activism recently has been powerful...

Congress may re-copyright Public Domain

Sorry if this is a repost, but I haven't seen any mention of it here. Here's the article: http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/01/scotus-re-copyright-decision/ re-copyrighting public works would breach the speech rights of those who are now using those works without needing a license... Buuuuuut? ....

Re: How do I delete my account?

I got an email saying the site got hacked. It says that the passwords were encrypted, but it doesn't say by what method. This leads me to fear that it's just MD5. Even if it isn't, I'm no longer comfortable having an account here. I've looked all through the user control panel and other places, but...

Here's a thought: maybe the thread should drop off now that the OP has been addressed, instead of having an admin post the guy's personal info without his permission?

Anyone for a game of Scrabble? 8-) No. It does violence to the spirit of crossword puzzles! What really gets me is people who waltz in here, drop their 2 cents worth (It sure is not worth more), Tell us how and what we should be doing with no intentions of doing it him/herself. Why do people keep m...

I wouldn't trust Logitech to do anything right after getting ripped off. My advice is to browse around newegg before making a decision, looking for something with a lot of reviews and at least 4 eggs. In each of those items, check the specifications tab for a broad microphone response range. Finally...
