Re: Richard Carvel, or anything by novelist Winston Churchil

Thanks to both of you for your checking it out (if you needed to) and your reply. We are away from home and our internet access quite sporadic so I apologize for not acknowledging your help sooner.

Richard Carvel, or anything by novelist Winston Churchill

I would love to see the works of Winston Churchill (the novelist, not the statesman} here at Librivox: "Richard Carvel", "The Crisis", "The Crossing", etc. Any soloist out there needing a good book to read? I feel sure the books should all be in the public domain unless...

Re: I cannot support LibriVox

Just a thought... some are more educated than others and all of us here are subject to mistakes, and a proof listener may not always even realize a word is mispronounced. I always pronounced sincerity and severity as sincere-ity and severe-ity, until my son-in-law pointed it out to me. He kno...

Re: A comment on Ruth's reading

Can I tag onto this thread? Just wanted to say I love your reading and accent, Ruth, and wish you'd do a BUNCH of solos. Never can get enough of it. :D

Re: Need a bit of help w/ advanced searching

Thanks to all of you, you've given some good suggestions. I'm impressed with earthcalling's collection-- very nicely done. If anyone else has inspirational material they've enjoyed, I'd love to hear more! Correction: I think the title of the Spurgeon sermon I mentioned above was "Looking Unto J...

Need a bit of help w/ advanced searching

I'd like to download some listening for my father-in-law, a retired minister... what search word or words can I use to find inspirational material? The results from 'Religion' were not quite what I had in mind. Anyone have favorites or search word suggestions to recommend? Thanks! To add: He LOVED A...

Re: Question about catalog titles

Thanks for answering, Tricia... I don't know how the system works, so don't know what is feasible and what isn't. But I'm well able to live with it the way it is. :)

Question about catalog titles

I was just reading the thread about the android app and one of Cori's comments reminded me of something I've wondered for quite awhile: when the book is read by a single reader could the reader's name be listed in the catalog title instead of all versions saying (readers)? It would be great to be ab...

Re: Mystery of the disappearing Dombey

Thanks much, that explains it... but how sad, after all that work. Do you know if Alison has read anything else? I did a search when I was trying to figure out what might have happened, and did not find anything, although I may have misspelled the name. I hope she will go on to other projects!

Mystery of the disappearing Dombey

Just wondered if anyone knows what happened to the version of Dombey and Son that was read by Alison Veldis (not sure if that is how she spells her name). I'm not sure why but when I downloaded it, several chapters were missing. I supposed there was some sort of problem on my end, and went to Libriv...

:?: I've wondered before... is an online copy a necessity for LV's approval, or can a book that is known to be PD be read from the volume itself? That info is probably tucked somewhere in one of the help sections but I don't remember running across it. There are some really good PD books that are ha...

Thanks, miss stav... I'm impressed with what I've read of this book and would enjoy reading more but will have to see. I'm committed for now to reading church periodicals to a blind friend of ours and that takes a good bit more of my time than chapters at LV, so right now when I slip off to read at ...
