How about a big hint: A History of Crime In England This is just volume 1. Volume 2 is also on Google Books and I have it downloaded, but I'm just taking it a step at a time. Its going to take a while if I go solo. I have thought about opening it up for multiple readers as it would probably get a lo...

Thanks. I was dreading going through all those notes  . I'm planning on this being a long term project since it is a mammoth text I'm planning on reading so I am going to wait until I have some already recorded before posting it in the solo section and claiming it as my own. It's one of those...

Omitting sections in recording

I'm considering recording a very large book in the public domain (well over 600 pages) and have a few questions: 1. The text has a preface and an index. In the preface, all the author talks about is thanking everyone who helped along the way and the notes in the appendix. In the appendix is all the ...

Here's my contribution to this collection: "Sing Me A Song of a Lad that is Gone" by Robert Louis Stevenson. Necessary Gutenberg Linky thingamijig: http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext96/strvl10.txt I had to sing this once in a music class back when I was in High School (what seems like a m...

Two questions: 1. How can we tell if a text has been altered in any way if the only text available is the one on the website? Take this guy for instance. I've searched through the internet to see if I could find his works anywhere else outside the Historical Library with no luck. From the link, if w...

Internet Infidels Historical Library

I was interested in doing some more freethought literature for Librivox, something not as long as Ingersoll (which Mask O' Glass is already doing a superb job on, by the way) and ran across Infidels.org's historical library . Seeing that some of the text were written well before 1923, I assumed that...

Hey 8) Wanted to drop in a recording of a poem I just had to do for an American Lit class that I thought was really excellent and hadn't been done yet (I don't believe): "Thanatopsis" by William Cullen Bryant Here's the necessary Gutenberg link: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/16341/16341-h...

Since "The Generous Gambler" copyright is still in question here in the US, I decided to do a story that was most assuredly in the PD: Here is the Gutenberg link to "An Inhabitant of Carcosa" by Ambrose Bierce: http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext03/canbe10h.htm And here is the re...

I gave it a quick glance and it does seem PG AU is where the text comes from, so I'm not really for sure on its copyright status here in the US. PG AU also doesn't give who translated it into English which is rather odd. Personally, I would rather err on the side of caution and just record something...

I can't find too much information on it either. It was originally published in 1864 in French and is now PD in Australia, but not in the US. Horrormasters may have taken its translation from that source. You may have to pull it from the collection and I will have to find something else to record. Th...

Since the above link expired at yousendit, I have used mediafire instead to give Peter more time to download it. I hope you enjoy.

Horror Short Story Collection

Hello, all. I have a question: Is this project still going on? I submitted a recording for it to Peter Why and, as far as I know, it wasn't downloaded and included in the collection. My file has now expired over at Yousendit.com. Mind you, this is not a complaint. Of all people I understand that lif...
