PS: It's raining! Here too, which is great because we've had some bushfires in the hinterland nearby. Which bit of Oz are you in Barbara? I'm sorry if you've already told me: my memory is a bit flaky at times. Reloaded as https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/lifeofthomaslordcochrane2_04_bourne_128k...

Re: Impossibly long titles---A Contest

This year I recorded " A true and perfect account of the miraculous sea-monster, or, Wonderful fish lately taken in Ireland bigger than ox, yet without legs, bones, fins, or scales, with two heads, and ten horns of 10 or 11 foot long, on eight of which horns there grew knobs about the bigness of a c...

"LibriVox audiobooks are free for anyone to listen to, on their computers, iPods or other mobile device, or to burn onto a CD."

Ch4: 25:15 https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/lifeofthomaslordcochrane2_04_bourne_128kb.mp3 When you're listening could you keep an ear out for a mistake I was making, which I think I've fixed? I was pronouncing "Spetzas" as "Spetznas". (Cochrane is using and archaic spelling here: it's called "Sp...

Re: 'Thank You' messages for LibriVox readers - continued

I've been lax in thanking some people. I've used Librivox recordings in my podcast, and I've always thanked Librivox and the particular reader in the audio and the blog post notes, but I've not thanked them here. Thank you to Sibela Denton for recording Lord Chesterfield's Letters to His Son. All th...

You have the speed of the cheetah, and the patience of the owl... Thanks so much. Love your blog. (elfstroke?!?) Best, Barbara Oh, thanks! Elfstroke is a medieval term for what we now call just "stroke". Sudden, inexplicable paralysis was believed to be caused by the cursed arrows of the little peo...

Best Elizabethan history?

Hi all, I'm going to write some stretch goals for an Elizabethan Magic TRPG Kickstarter, and I'm looking for any Librivox recordings that can give me period colour and plot hooks. I've found the biography of Raleigh, and I've listened to The Faerie Queene. I've also listend to the BBC version of Pep...

One thing: I think I cut them all out, but could you please check I didn't keep calling his assistant Dr Grosse, rather than Dr Gosse?
